Hi there, I think you dont need lawyer to apply for PR or TRV. Everything is pretty clear on CIC website, however, if you dont have enough time to go through the CIC link then yeah go ahead get a lawyer. Hope I answered the question. All the best.

I am in the same boat bro. Applied on 26th of Sept. still waiting... but my study permit is valid til 31st of March, 2018. As long as your work permit is in process, you should not be worried about study permit. next week probably...
