    DNA testing

Yes, after reading a few cases, I can see that there is indeed a lot of cheating. Why can't people just be honest? :-) The irony is that friends back in Canada wonder why I want to return to one of the most over-taxed countries in the world?

    DNA testing

Thanks to all for the feedback. Does the DNA test require taking blood from the infant, or just saliva? Do you do the test at the embassy, or must you go elsewhere to an approved lab, and take the test in the presence of an embassy official? If the latter, this will probably mean ANOTHER trip...

    New PR rule

Good points. I hope that nothing in my question suggested that I think anyone should be forced to stay in an abusive relationship.

    Thanks for the information. :-)

    New PR rule

What hasn't been addressed yet on this thread is WHY would the PR want to remain in Canada if the major reason for coming in the first place was to be with his/her Canadian spouse? Supportive family and friends are still in the home country, presumably, after only two years of immigration in...

    DNA testing

No one has any direct experience with DNA testing? I guess it is true that Canada rarely requests one, then

    i need complete help

Or, if you find the website too much to handle, hire an immigration consultant. There are many posts about who is good, who is not, in this forum. Good luck.

    DNA testing

Hi PMM: We must get on a bus and take a 2-hour bus ride to the nearest Canadian consulate, then a few hours there to apply for citizenship, then the bus ride back. It's a bit arduous for a baby, so we have been waiting until he can travel a bit better.

    DNA testing

I am curious about this possible step CIC can require. I am Canadian, my wife is Chinese (has permanent residency in Canada, though we live in China for now), and we have a young boy born in China. One day we will be able to live permanently in Canada, and get a Canadian citizenship card and...

Some of you will remember this documentary on marriage fraud - BIG update!

You make good sense, Charlie, but since when has good sense ever played a part in romance? More then 60% of marriages end in divorce, and most of these relationships have few of the stresses that afflict inter-cultural, inter-country relationships. So, when a PR lands and then the relationship...

    Canadaian marrying a chinese woman

I know. China seems to assume that people never move away from their home towns, because all essential documents (passports etc) must be obtained from the admin centre serving that home town. Very inconvenient for the Chinese.

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

Has anyone heard of parents being asked for a DNA test to prove parenthood? Apparently this is a measure available to CIC. But it seems barbaric to me. The poor little child must travel to an approved facility (possibly in a different city), give blood (never a happy experience), and the...

    Canadaian marrying a chinese woman

Sorry for the delay. I have not been visiting this forum regularly. I believe that you must get the Certificate of Eligibility to Marry (aka the Single Certificate) from the Canadian embassy/consulate that serves the area where your Chinese spouse's hukou is (usually his/her home town). My...

ups private address for pr cards possible?

On that we (all) agree: where did I ever get the notion that bureaucrats -- whose salaries are paid by taxpayers' dollars -- are there to serve the public? We citizens are a sub-class, with bureaucrats, even the most lowly of them, firmly in control. How did we get to this point? Where is the...

    How silly is Canadian Immigration

Why not present the facts, without calling CIC "silly", phrase it as a helpful suggestion on how to improve efficiency, and send it to the Minister's office?

Looking for new place to live with less natives

OK, I'll bite. How many "natives" did you see in Victoria? By "natives" I assume you need "First Nations" natives, not Irish natives or Scottish natives, people, right?

    Old Age Pension for Immigrants

Are you asking for advice on how to circumvent the rules for Old Age Security? Or are you asking how much "pension" your father is legally entitled to?

ups private address for pr cards possible?

Is it clear? Clear as mud. The PR card application “must be made in Canada”, and yet it is recognized that the “regulations do not specify a physical presence in Canada”. Furthermore, “applications cannot be refused solely on the basis of evidence that the applicant was not in Canada when the...

    Unsafe neighborhoods in Vancouver

From the airport, the skytrain takes me one or two stops toward WhiteRock, as I recall, Steaky , but no -- not all the way. I must take a bus the final leg.
