Yes, I applied online on 22nd May and got the Passport submit request on 12 June. Got my stamped passport on 20 June.

In my case, I did get the letter under messages. So I submitted my passport with the letter to VFS Pune. And yes, at VFS I only signed the VFS Consent forms...but didn't submit any additional photocopies of passport or anything.
