Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. I will work on my SOP and study permit questionnaire and re-submit my application. I just have one question - once I have these two word documents, where do I upload them? Last time, there was no link to upload these.

First of all, thanks a lot for your detailed response! I feel more positive already. However, since you mentioned SOP, I remembered that I did not upload any such document at all. It was not in the list of required documents in CIC - are you referring to the "letter of explanation"?
