Study permit rejected - please help

If she did PT and wants to do Medical Rehab, it has nothing to do with what CIC wants for her. It is her career and if she can support her switch and interest in Med Rehab then its no problem. CIC is not your parent to decide whats best for your career. They want to see clarity and explanation for your intents and interests. With courses like these she can tell them that she intends to open a rehab center for patients in India that is highly specialized and at the same time will keep her involved in practicing PT at the Rehab to ensure critical care for post op patients, etc.. I think it would be beneficial for her to work on explaining the reasons and grounds for why she wants to do what she wants to do.

A very valid point! We as students are well aware of what we wish to research in. It is the job of the educational institution to filter students taking into consideration the past work experience, academic qualifications,etc and if really our background was a problem,why would we be through in the first place and too with fundings?
Honstly, after sending a 1500 word SOP to the university, it seems futile to convince the High Commission again on why I want to study..why!
But yes, since the reason of refusal questions her course discrepancy, a short n sweet, to the point SOP might be the saving grace here. And possibly the best solution!
CAIPS notes at this point of the application when one is already nearing the Sept intake deadline might be a risk to invest time in.

If the University and most importantly the professor has granted you an admit with full funding, it literally makes no sense for the VO to point out on your past studies OR qualifications(unless you didn't submit some of your certificates OR didn't fill up the 2 year gap in the questionnaire(which seems plausible)?)No Visa officer ideally should reject a visa in case of scholarship and that too questioning your past studies which is more or less like disrespecting your supervisor who I am sure has considered you a deserving candidate only after considering all your details. I wonder how they think at times. Yes, it could be something missing in your application which should hv definitely been called for from their side .Kindly throw more light on your application in detail.

YES! If you read my first reply, i guess i had mentioned about the questionnaire! Since you had a 2 year gap, it was very much required of you to give those details. Don't worry. I guess this was one of the reasons and write a short covering letter too.Fundings make yourcase very strong! You'll be through this time.
Study questionnaire needs to be copied pasted into word,filled n then uploaded as pdf!

From what I can understand is that your Statement of Purpose had a problem. You should work on your statement of purpose. Make sure you explain your situation, why you chose the course, how it is an advancement of your current qualification from india, how it will help you in securing a challenging and successful career in india once your return and most importantly that India is in need of PT specialists. Your IELTS is good so I won't tell you how to to write clearly. This reason that you have is most definitely because they could not understand your background, future plans, interests, plans upon return and your establishment in India. They dont relate documents to find all these things, your SOP must be clearly presented. I'm sure you did include an SOP, but this time make sure it's well written and explains all the reasons for your interest in Canada and how it will help you settle in india once you are done. When you write your SOP, relate your past with your future .Also obtain some letters or some print outs from websites like the GOVT of india that state a shortage of Specialized PT and attach these kind of documents to support your file. That incorrect. I have seen people with no finance experience and no management background go into MBA to move into financial banking roles. They have gone to study in Canada for an MBA. In canada a number of engineers choose investment banking as a career right out of Engineering School.

Moreover, shes done her license exams so i'm sure medical rehab is just another word for PT. I don't think of medical rehab to be something outside of her domain. You don't need a post graduate in one field to move into another.

I don't see a reason for her refusal if she had a strong SOP. Lets wait and see what she wrote in her SOP. tania please discuss.

Tania we got your problem. SOP is not mentioned in check list but you HAVE to include this. It explains your circumstances and why you chose the course etc. This is a very important document. If i were you I'd apply again immediately with an SOP.

Aparna, I would like to say that I totally agree with you here. Our job is to convince the University and not the High Commission. If university has accepted you then HC should not cause problems with course related rejections. Its sad that even when people have paid their fees they are rejected for reasons not understood by the applicant. She did not include the SOP, and the high commission should include this on their check list. It is a very important and deciding document for visa issuances.

And decide how do you want to proceed with filing visa this time,CIC online or VFS? Checklist of VFS has additional docs. So, include those if doing a hard copy sibmission.
1.LETTER OF Explanation is nothing but SOP. Upload or submit a hard copy if applying through VFS.
2.Upload the questionnaire in pdf form or a hard copy through VFS

PS:VFS does not entertain CIC online visa enquiry. They only have info if u submit paper application through them.

TANIA - Apply ASAP with a very strong SOP. And make sure you do upfront medical and apply paper based so they review everything. With online you don't really know what to submit where. Follow these points you'll get it before time. Get it going fast.

If university has accepted you then HC should not cause problems with course related rejections. Its sad that even when people have paid their fees they are rejected for reasons not understood by the applicant. She did not include the SOP, and the high commission should include this on their check list. It is a very important and deciding document for visa issuances.

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. I will work on my SOP and study permit questionnaire and re-submit my application. I just have one question - once I have these two word documents, where do I upload them? Last time, there was no link to upload these.

if you know the art of putting convincing words into SOP and making VO believe that you are good to go, then u sure can get a visa. students have good profile but fail to present the answers to questions which go on in the mind of VO when he/she is assessing your file.

buddy CIC sees only MBA as a medium of COURSE CHANGER. No matter if u have studied with political science and want to do MBA, they wont refuse u.

Hi everyone,

I had re-applied for a study permit online on 25th July with an SOP, study permit questionnaire and a letter of support from my adviser in U. Manitoba. I had already completed my medical formalities with my first application (which was rejected in July). I have still not heard from the Canadian embassy and the online status still shows "under consideration". I have tried contacting the embassy through e-mail and their online inquiry system but I have not received any reply. I have deferred my admit for Jan 2015, but I am really anxious about this delay. Is this delay common for online applications? If anybody knows additional ways to contact the CHC, please let me know.
