ivocka, If you have lived in the US for 6 months (not sure if it's 1 year), you may apply through buffalo. the advantage is that buffalo is faster than many other processing centers. Not all though. so it depends on your country of permanent residence.

They clearly stated that up to 6.9IELTS is 2 point. there is no need to round up or down if they have said up to 6.9. I believe you can easily score 7 if you redo the test. good luck

Since you have H1, please consider Alberta Immigration Nomination Program. Alberta will grant you a PNP certificate under their strategic stream program and that will fasttrask your application. It does not require employment letter but a valid H1. let me know if you need additional info...
