    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Hi canadanow, IELTS examiners do give leeway to different accents. However, the standard is ultimately based on native English speakers' pronunciations.. and by this they mean British, American, Canadian, Australian/NZ, or South African English (not the Afrikaan-accented variety i suppose)...

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

There should be no difference in taking the IELTS anywhere in the world. We all follow the same guidelines and scoring criteria. If the situation is different in practice in India, I wouldn't be able to say.. but since it's probably run by the British Council there, I would guess not.

Could you please help to polish my Writing Task 2? Thank you!!

Your essay is fairly sophisticated and well-written. One thing you could do is to focus on or more clearly state whether "you agree or disagree" with the first sentence in the prompt.

Kindly assess my Writing task 2 and provide your valuable feedback

Hi Hussain, good writing but I'm not sure if it's band 7. As another poster said, work on the basic grammar errors like articles and look into improving your punctuation, such as use of commas. Don't Capitalize words that don't need it. Your vocabulary usage is great here though.

Re: I need real people to practice listening and talking or an other way Gmal, I think there's many resources listed on this forum and on the Internet. Where do you live? I suggest you find a tutor or language partner around where you live. Or you could find a chat partner on Skype maybe...

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Well rockers, there generally is not a huge difference between 7.5 and 8.0. However, as I mentioned, there are different ways to arrive at those scores, so it really depends. Also honestly there is a level of subjectivity, so two different examiners may give a slightly different score to the...

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Hi rockers, there certainly is a difference between the bands. I wouldn't be able to say exactly the difference between how you and your (theoretical?) friend performed though. It means he scored higher on the criteria on average. (Do a Google search for "IELTS public band descriptors") Note...

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Hi, I'm an English trainer and IELTS examiner who happens to be sponsoring his wife over for PR. Since I'm here anyway you can let me know if there's any questions about the test and I'll try to answer. Note, my knowledge is about the test itself, not NOC, CLB, CELPIP, TEF, or immigration in...

    Travel to Carribean?

I don't remember seeing this on the CIC site or anything but the wiki page says Foreign government authorities may require the production of a PR Card in some circumstances: Canadian permanent residents require a PR Card, unless the person's passport in itself is sufficient for exemption...
