    They shouldn't do, it's known as an 'Administrative Refusal' and doesn't get recorded as a true refusal. I've done it before and had no problems going into the US on later occasions.

    you need 12 months work experience while on valid work permits... as long as you have that you can apply from inside or outside Canada, it makes no difference. if you could get your application in before your work permit expires you would be able to apply for a Bridging open work permit (BOWP)...

    Just to update on this... my girlfriend definitely filled her RPRF Receipt in electronically and fired it back to CIC. No printing and no scanning. She got her confirmation through with no problems, 3-4 weeks after.

    Yes... surely it can't make any difference? Why on earth would they need you to print it then scan it back into a new pdf and email it to them anyway? That's nuts! It totally negates the point of having an electronic system.

    I was asked for the RPRF on July 3rd; paid, filled in and emailed receipt as requested on the same day. No 'decision made' as yet, still just says they started processing on June 26th, and medical results have been received.

    I don't know about other provinces, but in BC you just need to have been here for 6 months and to have a valid work permit to sign up for Medical Services Plan, no employer is necessary.

    You get a Confirmation of Permanent Residency in the post, which you either take to the border to 'land' or you can arrange an appointment with a local office. This was the case with my girlfriend who is also English, as am I.

    Received RPRF request Thursday July 3rd, which happened to be my birthday! App changed to 'in process' as of June 26, on June 29 Medical done June 26 Medical Request received June 25th 2014 Application received December 17th 2013 AOR received February 5th 2014 British citizen.

    Not immediately. I received my MR on June 25th, did the medical on June 26th. Today (Sunday June 29th) my online status was updated to 'In Process' as of June 26th. It still said 'Received' yesterday.
