    June 2013 Applications

I don't think it's a case of June being "too slow"; we're only two or three days into getting MRs through and we've had a handful. It's more that April/May went by ridiculously quickly, for whatever reason - there are lots I could make up, but it could be anything. Either way, I have my fingers...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Quick update - I received an e-mail on the 7th September, confirming that mine was accepted. Again, I applied on the 8th August, and was approved on the 5th September (I called up on the 6th and was told I'd been approved). So while they are technically still working on July applications, they...

    BOWP on Study Permit

I was under the impression that the BOWP for your spouse isn't technically a BOWP - it's a spousal open work permit, the criteria for which are different and more dependent on the principal applicant. As in, since you qualify for the BOWP (and by extension, meet some skilled word requirements)...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

If you applied online, there's no way to add anything to your account until they ask for it - they'll either ask for it, or see that you received it anyway and approve it. If you sent it to Vegreville by post, you can fax it through to that office (I don't have the number to hand at the moment).

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

The online application page where you upload your documents provides you with a link to the correct and up-to-date form. As for the question you were wondering about which to select, if your partner has a work permit select "work permit with the same employer" or "new employer", whichever...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Just called CIC, and my BOWP and spousal permit for my common-law spouse were approved yesterday and today respectively. I haven't received an e-mail yet or notification on mycic, so anyone who's waited more than 28 days may want to call if they haven't done so already! SO RELIEVED. In case...

Tips for a successful BOWP application

If you apply online and fill in the questionnaire, it lets you apply for both at the same time, in the same application.

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Bluelagoon, since it's been over 28 days for you you could call up CIC and ask if there's been any decision. From what I gather, notifications can come a day or so later than when the decision is made. It's unlikely they've gotten to yours yet, but you might get lucky! I'm in the same boat, so...

    CELPIP

CELPIP is pretty easy and straightforward. The only thing I would add of note for the speaking part, is that you can take some time to think of your answers before recording them for the test - but there's a time limit, so don't think of too much to say! I got caught out a couple of times where...

Tips for a successful BOWP application

Currently 28 days, though it changes regularly - you can check here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

    open work permit

Everything I've heard up to this point suggests no, you can't - my guess is because one of the conditions of the BOWP is that you have to "currently be in Canada", and applying at the border involves leaving Canada. I certainly asked CIC about this when I first called about the BOWP, and they...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

I'm not sure medicals are mandatory if you're applying for a spouse - I'm applying for both myself and my common-law spouse and there was no mention of, or request for, any proof of medicals, since we confirmed we wouldn't be working in medical-required fields. I think it's an additional...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

knm30 - I replied to the thread you posted - it is not required. bubence - that does explain things! In that case, an explanation letter should suffice. It's not a required document, so if you upload an explanation letter they'll see why you answered that question, and also why you haven't...

    Bridging Open workpermit

You don't need an offer letter for the BOWP. In the questionnaire, when it asks about an offer letter/offer of employment, say "no", even if you do have a job offer. The offer letter isn't a requirement of the BOWP, and your application shouldn't ask for it to be uploaded.

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

You don't need a medical exam, or proof of it, in order to apply for the BOWP. My guess is that in your questionnaire you said "yes" to the medical question, and that's why it's asking you for it. Change your questionnaire answer about medicals to "no", and confirm that you don't want to work in...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

I know, right?! Thanks for the feedback, I think all this waiting/general PR stress has driven me a bit crazy.

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Just out of interest, those of you who applied online, where did you attach a copy of your current work permit in the bundle of PDFs? I attached mine along with the Passport/Travel Document PDF and didn't attach it to the Letter of Explanation as well. All the information's there though - the...

    June 2013 Applications

I'd suggest perhaps sending them an e-mail - from what I understand, your credit card being charged should be a good sign, so it's possible that your AOR was generated but hasn't reached you for whatever reason - and they should let you know beforehand via e-mail if they were to send it back for...

    June 2013 Applications

I rushed mine out online last Thursday after receiving the AOR on wednesday. I wish I hadn't, because I left a typo error in one of the forms! Called CIC and they told me not to worry (was just a minor error on the common-law date question) and that they'll let me know if they need a correction...

    June 2013 Applications

Yeah, mine was delivered on the 17th and my application has just been updated to Application Received yesterday. Once I get this BOWP through, I'll be VERY happy to wait for a while until I hear anything else!
