For sure doesn't hurt to ask! I landed on a Sunday and Monday morning I applied for my SIN and OHIP. You can start working ASAP once you have the SIN number....I'm still looking for a job.

That's crazy! I live just a few blocks from a branch so it's easy to swing by for me. Good luck! Now that I'm a PR and got rid of my US healthcare I no longer have to mail checks to the US but I'll keep my US account with them.

I landed on April 11 but have crossed the border by car twice since then with no issues. I flew to Mexico and back with no issues. At the border they just look at my US passport with my COPR stapled in it and let me through with no extra questions or issues.

I have a US account with TD along with my Canadian, I go in every month and have them cut me checks in US funds and mail to the states.

Did you get a 1 year VR or 1 year visitor status extension? On my visitor extension I got hassled once when crossing for shopping, but once I got an actual VR I never got hassled and crossed all the time (sometimes a few times a week) to shop or see friends. I live near Windsor ON and the CBSA...

I've had my Ontario drivers license for 16 months already, I got it 2 months after I arrived as a visitor. I'm not importing my car, I sold it before I came. They are so efficient! It was so nice how quick everything went this morning :)
