Thread for people using the Guatemala Office

That's the golden question... I'd assume the Mexico processing time, keeping in mind it may go up from what is posted due to increased load.

    August 2012 Applicants Thread =)

Wow, congrats to those who have gotten good news! While I love and appreciate the spreadsheets, now I'm the "next in line" (although I realize there are countless people ahead of me... agreed that the system is totally unfair). Had it not been for the spreadsheet I wouldn't even be thinking...

Thread for people using the Guatemala Office

Wow... considering the processing time for 80% of cases is 25 months in Guatemala and 12 months in Mexico, I'd say this is good news...!? We sent our package to Mississauga at the beginning of August... I'm guessing our file will be going to Mexico once the sponsorship approval comes in...

    August 2012 Applicants Thread =)

Glad to see that everyone's mail is accounted for! Hearing the word "lost" from the carrier must have been the worst, yikes! Hmm.. i double checked the form versions that we sent with our app, and it appears we sent a May 2012 version instead of the July 2012 version for one of the forms... I...

Is this good enough proof of return for TRV dual intent?

Hi all, I posted this in the visitor section of this forum but I think I might find more answers here.... We are planning to apply for a TRV under dual intent (I am a Canadian currently sponsoring my husband for permanent residence). We were wed in a civil ceremony in May but have a VERY large...

Wedding planned in country of residence - good enough proof of return?

Hi all, We are planning to apply for a TRV under dual intent (I am a Canadian currently sponsoring my husband for permanent residence). We were wed in a civil ceremony in May but have a VERY large church wedding planned in his country in November. We have proof of a reception venue booked...

Uhh.... at what point were we supposed to send fingerprints??! EDIT - I'm assuming the fingerprints are for a police clearance because you've lived in Canada? Yikes... I'm about to send our package to Mississauga (tomorrow) and I think paranoia is setting in!

Sponsor "living" as a tourist abroad - which address to put?

Hey Creampop, Yep, I've got all of that as well (flight itineraries, passport stamps, tourist cards). I have proof that I come back and forth very frequently, proof that I've lived with my husband for 3ish years amidst all the travelling, proof that I am integrated into his life/family, proof...

Sponsor "living" as a tourist abroad - which address to put?

Thank you all for the advice! I think I will go back to that first form and change my answer to the question "Are you a Canadian living exclusively outside of Canada?" from YES to NO. (this question has given me such a headache! I think I have changed it at least 3 times now) I will then...

    Proof of Travel

I was in the exact situation! I have travelled back and forth so much and never kept a single boarding pass. I always bought my tickets online and they sent me email confirmations/itineraries - I simply printed all of these straight from my email account. Hopefully this is enough....!! Best of...

Sponsor "living" as a tourist abroad - which address to put?

Hey fandv! Glad to hear we are in the same situation. It's always nice to hear of other people in the same boat... sometimes this whole process feels a bit isolating! For proof of our intention to return to Canada, we don't have very much concrete evidence. I have included a brief settlement...

Sponsor "living" as a tourist abroad - which address to put?

Hi all, A quick question that should be relatively straight forward....I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my husband in Nicaragua. I "reside" in Nicaragua (i.e., I am here for extended periods of time), and I am in Canada about 4 months per year. Even though I sort of live here in Nicaragua...

Thanks Margrey! I saw that... I messaged you back with one more question! Also - I will add my sadness and disbelief that the processing time has been changed from 18 to 25 months. :(

Spouse's sister was previously a PR of Canada - need to explain or show proof?

Hi all, My spouse's sister was previously a PR of Canada (was married to a Canadian) but has since been divorced and her PR status has been cancelled due to excessive time spent outside of Canada (she has moved permanently back to Nicaragua - no plans of ever returning). She spent <1 year in...

Confusion about wording in guide for Latin America: 'copies' vs 'photocopies'

Good advice! The American embassy has a list of translators on their website - we'll likely go with one of those. Thanks for all the help.

Hi Felicity - thanks for your response! Clearly I really don't want to have everything returned & re-apply :S We will definitely go with a certified translator, but nowhere have I read that the documents/translations need to be stamped (authenticated) by the Canadian Consulate. In fact I have...

Confusion about wording in guide for Latin America: 'copies' vs 'photocopies'

Actually we are both in Nicaragua - which is why it has been difficult finding a certified translator. Any suggestions?

Confusion about wording in guide for Latin America: 'copies' vs 'photocopies'

Thank you both! We will try to find a certified translator... I will call the courts as you've suggested. Did either of you take the translations to the Canadian Consulate to be notarized? Is this necessary?
