So happy for the recent successes!!!! Do all failed refugees need the ARC? I was under the impression you only need it if your departure order turned into a deportation order… my partner was a failed refugee and left the country when they told him to.

Anyone have any thoughts on how long this typically takes after CIC receives your application? Their web site says 43 days to validate the sponsor and 13 months to validate the sponsored spouse... but I seem to recall "six months" floating around the forum... anyone?

Re: Mexico --- arrival in canada : anything I should know ? what i need ? Interesting story. Thanks for sharing. You must have been pretty inspired to stick around. Thanks for the good wishes. One question though... when people say it took them 'about 6 months' are they referring to the...

BTW... after submitting your application did anyone wake up in the middle of the night - or the morning after - and think, "Oh crap, WTF is my generic application form doing on the coffee table!?!"

Thanks, 'O. By the way... what's your incentive for sticking around here and being so helpful. Have you ever told your story in full?

Hang in there, everyone! Some of you are SO close! After a mad "holiday" (preparing and editing the application 24/7) I finally mailed it to CIC.. I just realized the "to" field said "Citizenship and Immigration (spousal sponsorship application)"... instead of "CPC Missisauga". That name...

Thanks, canadiangirl78! http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/mississauga.asp I assume it would be the Courier address at the bottom... but what do they mean by "no public drop offs"? As in they don't want sponsors showing up at their door?

My partner and I are married and are going to submit our application after months of preparation... it does seem like a lot of work. We wasted a lot of time with an Immigration lawyer and things have sped up a lot since we parted ways... You are in a common-law relationship which is legitimate...

Does anyone have the answer to this? We got our "SSP certificate" but it has writing on it. Basically says they did a search and found no irrevocable sentences... there is a stamp and signature on it. Is this what everyone else had?

So did you list the passport number in both the passport section and the national identity document section which comes right after? Hi Valeco! I just checked with my hubby and he confirmed that he got his in about half an hour in Mexico City. BUT you need to make sure you have all of the...

Did anyone else note the CURP as their national identity document but not include a copy? It's not listed on the checklists... and we would like to avoid backtracking to get it translated/certified if possible. Sooooo close to sending the application in!!!

One more question about military service... does anyone have experience getting to Canada with just the precartilla? What did you do when you were summoned to pick one of the balls? Cause you have to stay in Canada for 2-3 years before you can re-enter the country. The last thing we want is...

So my partner's refugee status was rejected in the past. I guess that's why we have an ID number? And we should use the same one? When you say "the visa office" you are referring to the embassy in Mexico City, right? We have CURP... is it not misleading to say "no" here? According to...

Oh... well it seems like there are always little things that can go wrong. So glad you were able to get an extension. Is your objective to make sure they got the questionnaire? Separate question for the group... on the sponsorship evaluation is "net personal income" your income after...
