Any thoughts on this? opinions from both ends; Sponsor and Sponsored Spouse

So why would this not apply to a failed relationship that lasts longer than two years after PR is granted, compared to a relationship that lasts less then two years? Why doesn't this apply 10 years later, for example? You took your chances, it failed, so you have to go home. The thing people...

Any thoughts on this? opinions from both ends; Sponsor and Sponsored Spouse

Only if that PR was sponsored by a spouse. If they became a PR by another route, e.g. FSW, then this doesn't apply.

Any thoughts on this? opinions from both ends; Sponsor and Sponsored Spouse

I doubt this new rule will mean that the existing requirements to prove a genuine relationship will be relaxed at all. I think things will remain exactly the same and they will use all of the same criteria. But this would simply give additional powers to revoke PR retrospectively in situations...

Any thoughts on this? opinions from both ends; Sponsor and Sponsored Spouse

No, it will not apply to you. Wouldn't it also be a massive bummer if you moved to Canada, set up your new life and got comfortable and happy with your new job and new friends and such, and then say your sponsor cheated on you 20 months into your PR and ended the relationship? You gave up...

Any thoughts on this? opinions from both ends; Sponsor and Sponsored Spouse

If the sponsored spouse has established a life in Canada, and completely dismantled and abandoned their life elsewhere, of course they would stay, isn't that a no-brainer? I would consider staying in Canada if my marriage fails (abuse or no abuse), but it would depend on how well established I...

Any thoughts on this? opinions from both ends; Sponsor and Sponsored Spouse

As a sponsored spouse, I'm pretty glad I filed my application already and will not be subject to this rule. Not because I'm planning to leave my marriage within two years, but because I am sure there will be more paperwork (and fees, you can bet on it) and evidence required by CIC to lift the...

Nope, and it was actually IMM1344 that I completed too.

    GUIDES TO GCMS

My incoming section shows "SPR information" incoming on the date that sponsor approval was granted, and then "IMM1344A SA & Undertaking" incoming a little under a month later. Nothing else. In my case I can confirm they have seen my relationship info because that part of my application has been...

February 2012 Applicants - Join here!

I don't know what the PPR deadline is. Most deadlines seem to be 60 days from my visa office, but I've had a 60 day and a 90 day deadline in connection with my medical things. The 90 day deadline was for specific medical testing that would take longer than 60 days. What happens after a deadline...

Whoa, ThunderSoul, my man, relax for a second here. I know this is about the 983759864026th cock up they've made with your application and you have every right to feel frustrated but canadiangirl is trying to be constructive and helpful, it's not fair to take it out on her. Also, I am not sure...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

If you enter a Royal Mail tracking number on the Canada Post website, you can track it once the package enters Canada (not before). Also, utterly HORRIFIED to read of what has happened to Caddboy. Wishing you the speediest processing once you've resubmitted. I am reminded of a previous post...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

EDIT: Ignore my post here, someone had already very kindly sorted the spreadsheet so no need for anything more to be done. Hopefully no more drastic changes!

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Dual intent in your case would refer to a situation in which you are visiting, but you also have the secondary intention of staying if the PR application is approved. Since that wouldn't be the case for you, you'd only be visiting, dual intent would not apply, it would simply be a normal visit...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

bonitanita, I am so horrified about what has happened to your application. This is why sending an AOR really ought to be mandatory for all applications, so that mistakes like this can be picked up and sorted out quickly, instead of another two months later. That is outrageous.

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

I'm one of the few who are >130 days. In many cases there's a reason for it. In my case I have pending medical stuff being sorted out, otherwise my application looks like it would have been approved in late July (according to my GCMS notes). So I guess once they had finalised and processed/sent...

    Spousal sponsorship

I sent my visa office a photocopy by mail, as well as a scanned copy via the Case Specific Enquiry thing on CIC's website. That was acceptable. My letter from MICC indicated that they also communicate the results to the visa office. In my case, they had made a spelling error in my first name...

UGH! Gosh, I was just whining and complaining about my Hard Life (with my husband! in canada!!) in the GCMS thread but now I just read this, I feel like a [ahem] ******* (you get the idea). Fingers crossed for you that 15 months is an error or some kind of worst case scenario estimate.

    GUIDES TO GCMS

I am with you on that depressing feeling. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to now be in Canada (been here for a month) and so grateful that my nationality allows this to be so. But I can't help but dwell on the fact that my app was basically approved 12 weeks ago and all the medical stuff is...

    GUIDES TO GCMS

I'm really not sure. I saw a post online where someone else had quoted "service commitment date" directly from their notes but I definitely haven't seen/heard anything from CIC that would confirm it, and the word "client" is completely a guess on my part. I quote the following note from a post...

    GUIDES TO GCMS

Ah that's really interesting about the number >1, thanks for sharing. Yes, I have relationship related notes, firstly one big paragraph, as follows: "PENDING MED BRITISH CITIZEN PI IS MARRIED TO A CANADIAN CITIZEN, COUPLE MARRIED IN QUEBEC IN JUN11, PROOF SEEN, FIRST MARRIAGE FOR BOTH. NO...
