Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

I got approved for US naturalization just 5 days ago (my ceremony is in about two weeks)...so I've been going through a lot of "government stuff" these past few months between Canada and the States lol

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

Ah ok that makes sense. I was under the impression the photo would be on the certificate, as is the case in the States. Thanks!

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

Too late now, I mailed back the original application with the left-out checkbox checked, yesterday. I'm hoping they will take into account the original date of receipt in terms of the photos...if they send a letter requesting new photos (but not the ENTIRE application back), then I'll have no...

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

@nyguy2 any thoughts on what I posted above? You seem to know what you're doing around here... :) To add onto my previous post: I resubmitted the original application yesterday, with a short cover letter explaining what section I had left blank, how the previous one was returned, etc. and...

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

So I just received my entire application back as incomplete (thought is was due to the new photo change)....I forgot to check the two boxes as "NO" under part 11 of the applications (my stupidity, forgot that I was filling it out for the child not myself when answering that question). So I'm...

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

As the father, yes you have to put in your personal information (especially since the child's birth certificate will have you listed on it) regardless of your own citizenship outside of Canada. Yeah my parents were naturalized Canadians by the time I was born, and I'm a Canadian citizen by...

is there any sort of tracking sheet for those who applied for Proof of Citizenship?

Thanks for that info. However, that pertains to applicants going through the entire citizenship process which doesn't exactly fit my scenario in timelines (or maybe in some way it does?) since I only applied for proof of citizenship for my daughter...do you know if there is any sort of tracking...

is there any sort of tracking sheet for those who applied for Proof of Citizenship?

Just wondering as the title states...if so, please someone point me to where, so that I may compare my stats with others---still learning how to navigate these forums :) I submitted a proof of citizenship application in late August. Thanks!

Citizenship photo specification change on August 23, 2017

I agree with your line of thinking, it's what I feel as well... considering the photos I had done were taken in March it leads me to believe it most likely won't be an issue (because they were taken long before the specification changes)...however my application being postmarked on August 25th...

Citizenship photo specification change on August 23, 2017

I sent my daughter's in on August 25th with the old photos...didn't read about the change until a few days ago. I'm worried now too. However, this is my thinking: The new photo specifications come into effect for photos physically dated by the photographer AFTER August 23rd. IRCC allows...

Proof of Citizenship for Minor..bit of a problem..

I ended up not applying for my long form birth certificate because I found a certified short form and sent that in to IRCC. I did go to a notary in NY and have them certify/notarize photocopies of my other identification though and they happily did that. As others have noted in this thread, its...

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

Thank you so much for the clarification! Yeah you got through super-quick---gives me some hope that mine may be handled just as fast :)

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

They really should consider redoing the form the way they have it currently laid out. I would think most people applying fall into the category of having at least ONE parent born *in* Canada...a simple third checkbox with [ ] Not Applicable would save a lot of applicants (and IRCC) from any...

Child born to a Canadian Citizen outside Canada

I'm applying for proof of citizenship for my minor child, and almost exactly in the same boat as you. I decided to get my ID documents notarized, as well as her ID documents notarized (even though it's not required) as they felt more "official" to me rather than just sending in regular...

Proof of Citizenship, confusion over grandparent question

Thanks for your advice, I'll write N/A next to the check box part at the top, and then N/A in all the boxes underneath for both sets of grandparent info :)

Proof of Citizenship, confusion over grandparent question

In part 8B it asks info about the applicant's grandparents (my parents, since I am applying for my minor child) Both questions start off with "If the applicant's parent was born outside of Canada, was one of their parents a Canadian citizen at the time of their birth" (I wasn't born outside of...

Proof of Citizenship for Minor..bit of a problem..

My Canadian passport I never let expire, even if I haven't travelled in years. So thankfully I haven't had issues with that because the renewal process is more streamlined when you apply before expiration (knock on wood).

Proof of Citizenship for Minor..bit of a problem..

Yep---read that. Not having a Canadian citizen guarantor can delay processing of my application for a copy of my birth certificate for several months too....which would then mean that her citizenship photos would most likely expire by the time I get it. Like I said, I did find the certified...

Proof of Citizenship for Minor..bit of a problem..

In Ontario, when ordering copies of birth certificate, they require a guarantor who is employed as a doctor, lawyer, notary, judge, teacher, bank signing officer or police officer AND is also a Canadian citizen, AND has known the applicant for at least two years. Not easy to find someone who...

Proof of Citizenship for Minor..bit of a problem..

Thanks so much for your help with my questions. I know I won't get it back, but saves me the time (at least a month) and cost of ordering another one from outside Canada. Not to mention the whole guarantor issue. I suppose I'm a bit jealous of those in other countries who apply directly at...
