I think there's a typo in the article. Applications received before Dec 2016 is 26 months, after Dec 2016 is 12 months.

This happened to a friend of mine recently. 2016 Feb applicant, they didn't hear anything till December 2017. In Dec 2017 they got an email saying please provide xxxxx documents before a final decision is made. They submitted the documents and they got passport request on Wednesday this week...

Hi everyone, does anyone know if there is any specific order by which the visa officers do the various checks for our files? Like the background check, security check, criminality, eligibility, etc. Which comes first and what is the order they follow? Or are all of the checks done at the same time?

We didn't order GCMS notes, but we applied through a lawyer and spoke to the local MP. Since it is currently still within normal processing time they haven't done anything yet. But end of this month will be 20 months so after that we are planning to contact the VO and check.

MP is a Member of Parliament. This is referring to an MP in Canada. Your spouse who is sponsoring you to Canada can visit his/her local MP's office for the constituency he/she lives in and submit a request to enquire about the status of your application.

Yeah it's quite tough. But hopefully with the shortened wait times maybe yours might be processed sooner too. Good luck!

Hi, yes we did contact the HC and they just said it is within the normal processing time. Like @yoge said, current processing time is 20 months, and my application falls under the older system... but hopefully the long wait is almost over. Seems like the applications are moving faster for...
