you will receive your file number at the same time you receive your approval letter, assuming that the docs you submitted are complete.. we submitted our application august 2007, acknowledgement thru emil a month after.. no file number received...march 2009 we received approval letter w/ file number

as per MPNP, file numbers are only given if there are additional docs that need to be submitted, otherwise you will receive your file number together with your approval/ refusal letter..

a file number is siven to an applicant when additional docs are needed... in what stream are you? if under general stream, processing now takes 18 months..
