From past few months the system may not give the file number right away and I have seen it taking over a week before one see the file number for the TRV application. However there is nothing to worry about this, it seems to be a normal practice of CIC now.

Hi, I don't think you can download your documents after you submit them. The only way I think would be access to information act and it could take longer time.

We applied for my brother after previous refusal on travel history and ties to home country. Online application 10 July, submission confirmation 11 July, updated July 12 and 13. I logged in today (4aug) and it says updated again (haven't received any email yet)
