Applying from US - Providing documents to prove working on H1B 240 day rule

When you apply for an extension, you should have been issued a receipt notice by USCIS - the receipt notice is sufficient to maintain legal status while a petition for extension is pending/being adjudicated.

Share your LAND border Landing stories (mine has some unexpected moments)

Thanks for sharing this. We live in Boston and plan to do a soft landing at Lewiston. Good to know that the appointment stuff is needed only for flag polling - this was a major point of confusion for me.

Anyone get their Police certificate from the Indian consulate NYC

They'll keep your passport while they process your PCC request. There's a designated time slot for picking up your documents/passports, between 11.45 and 2pm or something IIRC.

Caution!! Shipping Passports to Canada from US via UPS.

I guess the value of $500 is what caused the issue. I used FedEx and I wasn't allowed to put a 0$ value on it so I put in $1. Got tha passports safely. How did you end up getting everything sorted out?

    India PCC for US residents

Apologies for the delay - yes, passport photos are needed. And it's been a while, but we just had to make a note on top of the application specifying it was for Canadian immigration - there was no dedicated field as such IIRC.

PPR - pictures taken in the US?

I guess you lucked out. The person at the Walgreens booth had no idea what I was talking about and insisted that 2x2" was the only option possible. We ended up going to an independent photographer nearby.

PPR - pictures taken in the US?

At Walgreens - where do you specify the country? Do they give you the digital version and can you specify the size it should be cut to?

PPR - pictures taken in the US?

Thanks - can I ask how much it cost you? While I was at Walmart I did some Google-fu and the closest guy near me was a professional who specialized in taking headshots for aspiring actors. I presumed his services would cost a kidney and a half so I thought I'd tap into the collective...

PPR - pictures taken in the US?

I received my PPR last week and the photo requirements state that the photo should be 2.75 inches long and 2 inches wide. However, most studios that take passport pictures use the US standard size of 2"x2". I checked in with Target, FedEx and Walmart and all of them offer 2"x2" as the only...

Proof of funds - what documents does one need?

It's advisable to have an average balance of the minimum amount. If you have a sudden influx of money just when you're applying for immigration, it may raise some eyebrows. One way around it would be to have a gift deed issued for the additional amount in your name.

Laid off a day before AOR

Sorry to hear that. When you submit your documents you're affirming that all documents etc are true to the best of your knowledge. Because you submitted your documents after you were laid off and the submitted documents show you're still working, this may be construed as intentional...

    Express Entry Profile Rejected

Have you created a job bank profile? Nothing else seems to stand out in your profile that would lead to a rejection. Like others said, it does seem to be a system glitch.
