    January 2018 - Citizenship Applications

Suggest visiting the October, November and December forums - many applications have been In Process since January. Unfortunately this is entirely normal and no contact method, MP, phone or webmail, will change anything.

    Agree - this is insanity.

See dpenabill's point above about legality vs illegality. Here is why you would take an illegal way: a young man in the Republic of Congo who is outed as homosexual is not going to submit an application via eCAS for PR - he is going to board an illegal vessel and cross the border illegally...

Toronto Sun opinion piece - more made up news. Yes, Merkel is tightening borders in response to an anti-immigrant backlash, but the plan is not approved (yet) by the SPD. Even if it is approved, it will continue to adhere to the refugee convention as it will still be processing the refugees...

I'd suggest part of it is tribal (us & them mentality) - being a more "legit" applicant differentiates one against those who are supposedly less deserving because they had to take unofficial and sometimes illegal measures such as crossing a border illegally or using people smugglers to save...

The only person who needs to explain a stat is the person who has cited it - not me. Where is that stat coming from? Let's be honest, it was made up for the sake of argument or ripped of from some obscure right wing media outlet / politician / tweet. Some quick research using stats Canada...

The delusional logic seems to be: - the PM tweeted that Canada adheres to its commitment to providing a safe haven for refugees - which is true and simply a fact - there was an increase in refugee claims in Canada esp. at the border - which is true, but is a result of geopolitical consequences...

Apparently refugees are to blame for an influx of applications for C-6 and slow government bureaucracy. EDIT - further to this it turns out IRB process refugee claims, not IRCC - so bigoted trolls can shout until they are blue in the face that refugees are making them wait longer for status...

Any reason why CIC takes 3 months to deliver PR Card

Check out page 332 of the 2018 budget - looks like an increase for the following financial years have already been apportioned. https://www.budget.gc.ca/2018/docs/plan/budget-2018-en.pdf Both the 2017/18 and 2018/19 plan has increases relating to increased immigration already...

Refugee status cessation and PRs applying for citizenship

Yep, this troll seems to come out with particular vehemence against refugees - it's an obvious bias to pick when you don't see the same level of enthusiastic scrutiny and angry rhetoric applied to other type of immigrants whose behavior, situation and intentions might change once they migrate...

Wait a second - 5 years? There is definitely more to the story than just a five year hold up ... what are the specifics?

Agree, accountability in the public service seems to only come from a crisis (major incident which sparks outrage and all of the obvious need for change is suddenly understood) or when there is a mandate with a new government, but even this usually is short term.

Ha. Well I'm glad you got an answer - looks like more waiting is on the books. For what it's worth - I am pretty sure we are all sick of waiting, including me.

What are you calling them about? Your IP is dated start of February and people whose IP dated in January are still receiving test invites.

Please feel free to re-read our previous exchange, as this discussion is now going in circles and seems to be a political rant (which a previous poster already pointed out) rather than one about resource allocation. This will be my last reply to you directly on this topic given there is no...
