Oath ceremonies on Thursday 20th with strike news

An IRCC officer commented this on reddit, but he's in the LMIA department so he probably doesn't know much.

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

Found this on r/ImmigrationCanada I'm really hoping IRCC issues a statement to let people know what's gonna happen with their cancelled ceremonies, but what I don't understand is why are ceremonies still being cancelled today and tomorrow. They didn't get the "we have a deal" memo?!

Oath ceremonies on Thursday 20th with strike news

The words "IRCC" and "fair" in the same sentence do not exist :D I wouldn't get my hopes up on even thinking that people with cancelled ceremonies will be prioritized at this point...

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

I think you're misdirecting your anger toward the wrong group of people. I would never wish anyone to be in a refugee position. I have friends and family that went to the Ukraine border to help and hosted refugees in their homes. I heard absolutely heartbreaking stories and I'm very glad to see...

I think that's a question that not even IRCC can answer...

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

Except that it's not the government that suffers, but the people. This comment is actually quite concerning. Nothing stops them from getting 13.5% raise & WFH, and then doing the bare minimum.

PRTD application submitted IN CANADA - success story

I think there's also confusion with the wording, I think they're referring to "you can't apply and receive a PRTD inside Canada", since there are clearly people here that made the application within Canada and then later on got the PRTD while they were traveling. My guess is that you can make...

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

Ok, sure. Let's agree to disagree. I'm getting fed up with the trolls here that should be picketing instead of spending time on this forum being "keyboard warriors" as another troll mentioned in a previous post. Go be union warriors. You're in the minority on this forum, clearly, and yet you...

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

He was scheduled but got the cancelation email 2 days ago. They didn't update the tracker, but once they do, it will show "not started", I guess.

There's a 9.7% wage premium compared to the private sector, and that's not even mentioning benefits, early retirement, etc.

Yes, but that might take awhile, and only if they fill out a form.

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

In other news, I finally got in the tracker today and it shows "in progress" for the ceremony section, with the "Congratulations! You've been scheduled to attend your citizenship ceremony on April 27, 2023. Follow the instructions you will receive in your ceremony invitation." message.

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

I'd be the first to sign a petition for this. Paid by the no of oath ceremonies and applications processed. Performance-based compensation like in the private sector :)

Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

From the same article: "Since there’s no compensation advisers in the office, they will have to probably reproduce the last pay cycle and pay people the same thing. And they won’t be able to make, necessarily, adjustments because there’s nobody to make those adjustments or recoup the money...
