Woo-hoo! Thanks, pongpong. Now it's time to glue myself to my mailbox for the next few days. ;D

    June 2012 Applications

I'm a March applicant. Got my medical request Sept. 13, they were sent Nov. 1 (due to a mix-up), and I got my PPR on November. 19. So, about 3 weeks for me, though some have been shorter/longer than that.

    March 2012 Applications

Just saw my file and it says "decision made." Is this usually what it's updated to once they issue the visa? I sent in my passport and info on Nov. 19, so I'm assuming that's what it is....

    March 2012 Applications

Though I got my PPR a week ago, it's still saying "In Process" on the website. I don't know how often they update this thing. Well, the copy of my passport should be arriving in another day or so, according to the tracking number, and hopefully my visa is issued before my trip so I can land...

I wonder how long that will last -- I heard south of Red Deer is expecting 25 cm today! Either way, if I can land in the airport, I'm good to go. My PR isn't time-sensitive since I have a work permit for the next 2.5 years. Now I guess I need to find all my old work permits/study permits...I...

    No medicals yet

Wow, I didn't even think of submitting it under my extra insurance...and I have double insurance (myself and through my husband). I should see if one of them is willing to pay up. My cost breakdown, for those interested: $250 for medical exam $40 for chest x-rays $100 for bloodwork...

Received AOR But No Medicals Yet

That's frustrating. They specifically told me that if I didn't hear back in 120 days to email them for further information...and that's what they call 'further information'? That doesn't help anything.

I just did fingerprints for the Edmonton police department for clearance in Canada, so if you don't need clearance from the States, you should be good.

    PR Application Review

My guy is out in Markham, Ontario, and he was excellent...but it depends what you mean by "nominal fee." Mine was $2,000 and he handled everything on my behalf...definitely worth every penny, since he found and fixed even the slightest of issues that could have been a setback. I've heard there...

Yes, I believe you have to get a background check of any place where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 18. I'm from the States and I just had to provide an FBI background check (takes about 6 weeks to complete), though my consultant also suggested I get a background check from the...

    March 2012 Applications

Phew! That's good to know. I was thinking that if I had to go to the actual border, I wouldn't be able to land until next May, when all the ice has melted! And thanks -- congrats on your PR!

    March 2012 Applications

Pongpong, you had to drive 7 hours from Edmonton to land?? I thought you could make special arrangements with the airport -- is that not the case? I'm going to be traveling to Mexico for a quick holiday at the end of December, I wonder if I can land at the airport on the way back....

That's so true. Dealing with government bureaucracy is the worst! (And I say this as a former US government worker, too. ;))

Canadian Common Law partner - What to fill out?

Yup -- still have to declare him on everything. I'm married to a Canadian but decided to do CEC (faster, cheaper, and you can leave the country as they're processing your application...apparently being sponsored from within the country means you can't leave the borders as they're processing...

CIC finally answered my question regarding my medical exam. Strangely enough, one CIC officer said that he couldn't reply to my email since the email address I sent the request from isn't associated with my official file (my consultant's email is), so I had to have my consultant draft an email...

I should point out that if you're being processed through Ottawa, the ONLY way to find out your status is to email them. I waited on the phone for half an hour, just to have them tell me that Ottawa cases were special and could only be verified via email! Also, they won't answer questions you...

    March 2012 Applications

Well, Ottawa has received my medical reports as of today, according to Canada Post mail tracking. I really hope I'll get my PPR soon! I'm taking a trip at the end of December, so it would be perfect if I got everything approved by then so I could land on my way home! Cross your fingers. :D

    March 2012 Applications

No, and I emailed them and they told me they didn't have them on file! So I called my doctor, found out that the urinalysis lab (Dynalife) didn't send them my results until October 18, a MONTH after I had them done! Then, my doctor was on vacation, and she's JUST now back. So they're sending...

I should point out my AOR was received June 6, not July 6. Still have timelines close to those who received their PPR, so hopeful I'll get something this week. :)
