    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Are you sure it's possible to apply online? CIC told me I had to do it by mail. Since the online application will arrive at the Work Permits department, but the AiP OWP needs to be approved by the PR department.

I don't know about the post-graduate WP, but the OWP at AiP is very easy to get. Just need to send it through mail.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

@Babyhangon: you need to restore status before continuing. Otherwise it could lead to bigger problems. Also, you CAN NOT get your OWP online. If you do it there, you'll most likely be denied. You HAVE TO file a paper applications at the PR department. I explained the whole procedure one or two...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

It's per year. Inscriptions for 2012 aren't open yet in all countries. Might check again the first week of December. Volunteering is permitted without permits, as long as you don't get in the way of Canadians that desperately need that position (like for school). Also, they're not fond of...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Hi dottorre, welcome on the forum board. It's too bad you didn't persist on your application back in 2009. Waiting times were a bit shorter back then. Now we're looking at a year for first stage + the open work permit, it used to be about 8-9 months. Don't know who told you about the 1year+...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Do you already have first stage approval (AiP)? If so: then you can apply for an Open Work Permit. Don't walk the 'regular' work permit way, because it will be denied. You need to take a special route. Look for "Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay or Remain in Canada" (IMM 1249)...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Yes, I think so. Only work permits fall under the implied status, as far as I know. So until a decision is made on your OWP, you'll need to keep a valid status by renewing your visitor status. Check with CIC though!

Okay, so he's not walking the sponsorship path for PR at the moment? That's not something we're experienced in, in this thread. Sponsorship is not about 'being a good candidate' so much. You can get an OWP upon receiving AiP (first stage approval), which currently takes about 11 months. Those...

Yes, it looks like AiP. Wow, it's incredible! How did you jump the waiting line? :) @Teriskier: What an incredible IO you have. Try to give CIC a call and ask for a manager to resolve this, maybe they can communicate something to Vegreville for you?

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Yes, you're allowed to travel through Canada, as long as you travel direct (so no transfers or shortcuts through the US). If you have a visa that's multi-entry, you could even travel to the US for as long as it's valid. Maybe check with CIC what it would take to get a new multi-entry visa for...

How are rented cars classified? And what about if I take the bus to the nearest town, I walk across the border and find a bus at the next town? What about a car borrowed from a friend/family member if he/she asked me to pay for the gas plus a bit extra (for writing it off), is that commercial?

anyone from quebec who applied inland?

If her current visa is multi-entry, she shouldn't have any problems getting back. If not: she'll need to request a new visa. Keep in mind: visa applications are easily rejected, the embassies don't care if you're waiting for PR or not, they're treating you like a tourist. In case the visa is...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

What I've been told: you cannot get back into Canada without PR card, unless you request a special visa for Permanent Residents without PR card. This has been told to me by the CIC agent that landed me. Some people have claimed it works otherwise, but for the moment I haven't seen convincing...

@Themount: yes, it's AIP! Congrats!! Immigration can find out if they want to (you'll probably have a stamp in your passport stating that you entered China on a certain date). Even if you come by the US, you'll still need a visa. Sometimes landing interviews can be a month after decision made...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Well, of course you need to realize that with the AiP OWP and the visa exempt program, you're basically still a tourist with a work permit. That means: you still need to present yourself at the border knowing that you can only stay temporarily. If the border officer thinks that you can't support...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Overstaying is always a bad idea when filing for any other applications later. What you must do first is check out if you can apply for "restauration of status". I don't know this application at all, but I know it excists for these cases. It means that if they find out you've been overstaying...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Do you have AiP or not? If so: do you have your OWP? If not: you should get it. Then in Mexico just request a new entry visa, if you can't use your previous one. If you already have second stage, your medicals have been assessed, so don't worry about the expiry date. That's odd, usually in the...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

As far as I know, you can't get an OWP that way. Maybe you should check two more times, since CIC reps often give wrong information. Tell them as much details as possible, to make sure they don't make mistakes.
