Well, of course you need to realize that with the AiP OWP and the visa exempt program, you're basically still a tourist with a work permit. That means: you still need to present yourself at the border knowing that you can only stay temporarily. If the border officer thinks that you can't support yourself during your temporary stay, (s)he can deny you access to Canada. In reality if you travel together and you just say that you're back to work and sit through the last waiting time for PR, the border officer will understand and not make a fuss about it. CIC hotline only makes sure you understand the risk involved.angtao said:Jurgen, so if you have an OWP, then you will not get denied if you fly out of the country and are from a visa-exempt country? My husband and I want to go away in July 2012 but for that to happen he needs both stages approved at the same time and to land shortly thereafter.
This is what CEC said when he spoke to CIC,
"I also asked about if it is possible to somebody with an AiP/OWP to leave the country and come back. She said technically yes, but in case the border office denies ones entry for some reason, there's nothing that can be done and she/he will lose its PR application... "
Maybe walking shoes? Try your local Mountain Equipment Coop!Love_Young said:Do any of you have any suggestion on good shoes to have for work if you are standing all day?
Try to call (although I don't expect big results) or write a letter (and have it attached to your file).missha said:How should I get to CIC PR department ? Any suggestion?
It looks like you'll be fine to go on trips too. However: be safe and dubble check everything with CIC.ryan_stw said:Do you mean we can leave Canada once we get AIP even without 2nd stage? I submitted my application end of April 2011, i dont come from a visa exempt country but my temporary visitor's visa does not expire until October of 2012 and i was granted multiple entry.
First off, congratulations to all those who got the good news! ONWARD AND UPWARDS! and congrats to AnnaBruce!justina said:TTN is not the same as temp SIN. We have the same problem. After calling Revenue Canada, Income Tax, SIN office, they all passed over to each other and all said they couldn't answer that question. Finally my husband asked to speak to a supervisor, who called him back a day or 2 later. Basically, he was told he could work if he could find an employer who would hire him with the COPR but without the SIN. The TTN is for correspondence with Revenue Canada, and can be used when applying for various benefits ( I needed my hubby's SIN for Child Tax benefit and Maternity EI so had to use his TTN) If you are landed but do not have an OWP you pretty much have to wait for your PR card to be able to get the SIN and work.
I got the news about AIP via phone when I called in.jeymi said:You're right angtao, no update. I don't know what's happening.
Folks, when did you get your first stage approval, what comes first, mail or update in Ecas? How about those applications that were transferred to local office? Sigh! This is torture.... like killing me softly!
Congratulations Pepe... all the best... as per your first question, I believe the answer is YES congratulations,pepe261 said:Hi everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry for not been in touch lately. I have been working non stop the las 18 days and before I was stopping just one day a week and working 12 hrs a day... anyway... I am happy to be back.
I wanted to share that last week I got a letter from CIC saying that I have my interview on December the 1st!!!
I am so happy!!! things seem to coming to an end!
I would really appreciate if people who have gone to the interview can share their experience or if they did if they can paste the link where I can find their experience. Also I have a few questions...
after the interview, one becomes a permanent resident?
is it possible to get the new SIN number the same day? I have one already because I got an OWP before.
Did anyone leave Canada and try to get a travel document to come back?
Cheers to all of you and thanks a lot.

Does it mean someone landing (with OWP) will get a permanent SIN number immediately after the landing interview? Or does he still have to wait for the PR card? And can someone leave the country without the PR card after landing? Thanks..justina said:Congrats!
Since you have an OWP you can get a SIN upon landing.
If you're just waiting for your PR card, yes you can leave the country. Make sure that somebody will receive you card to the address you've provided. If you want to return to Canada, ask this person to send this card to you by registered mail.twchu said:And can someone leave the country without the PR card after landing? Thanks..
