It says
UPLOAD UNDERTAKING LETTER MENTIONING THE DETAILS ABOUT THE SURRENDER/POSSESSION OF INDIAN DOCUMENTS LIKE VOTER ID RATION CARD. ETC
I’m not sure about exit permit for those who got any visa. These are the doubts I have and want to clarify with FRRO too. But unable to reach them
I still haven’t been able to reach to anyone at FRRO Bangalore. But I did get a document request on their online portal. They have requested a letter of details of Indian documents in possession ( voter id, ration card etc) I will be submitting it tomorrow.
Hi there
I flew directly to Delhi. So I did not have a lay over in any other country. I was not asked about my status in Canada anywhere.
frrodli@nic.in is the email address of Delhi FRRO where I contacted.
Hi there
We had the same issue when we tried checking in for our son who is a oci holder a few months ago. We were flying Etihad. At the counter they told us to enter the expiry date of the passport in the expiry date field
I am one of the people who applied before the ban and still didn't get an e-visa. In their reply FRRO just said that we have to apply for exit permit/ visa at FRRO.
Yes. I will be applying for OCI. I'm not sure where I read it but I think one is eligible to apply for OCI from India after residing in India for 6 months. Again I need to re-check this information. Just taking things one at a time.
The application itself is quite straight-forward. Similar to the form we fill for BLS (we did it for my spouse in Canada). But there's no checklist for supporting documents. I called the customer service twice. Got different answers each time. One even said all you need is the proof of...
I had my Canadian passport when I was traveling. I had even applied for e-visa before the ban. But it was not granted. I did mention this in my email to FRRO. But they mostly sent out a generic reply.
I landed in Delhi. I would recommend you travel within the specified grace period and surrender the passport to avoid any penalty and also I'm not sure if it would impact your future applications (visa/OCI). Besides you need to keep in mind of any change in rules regarding the grace period. I...
Hello everyone
Update so far. I surrendered my Indian Passport at RPO, Bangalore and obtained the surrender certificate. I have submitted my application for entry visa on the FRRO portal as I am planning for extended stay. Now the waiting game begins. I hope everything goes well.
I traveled to India using my Indian passport. I just arrived early morning today. I did not have any problem at check-in or immigration. I will share my experience about surrender and FRRO applications once I'm done.
I did get a reply from FRRO Delhi
Sir/Madam,
01. As per Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) guidelines a grace period of three months (90 days) is allowed from the date of acquisition of foreign citizenship, for the purpose of travel on Indian passport. For further clarification and fresh...
The reply I got is exactly same like yours. They have not mentioned anything specifically about getting a visa for the stay before applying for an exit permit. In my case I still have to apply for a visa since I’m planning a long stay.
@walter_white i got the same reply from FRRO Delhi. Thank you again. This helped us get some clarity. Also I did mention that i acquired Canadian citizenship recently in my email to FRRO.
