Can I enter Canada by land without PR Card or PRTD?

If you have visa exempt passport, you can always approach Canadian POE and present yourself for admission. Unless you are US Citizen, you won't be able to board a plane as PR without PR card. But you can still walk to Canadian border and ask for admission at the border. BTW: If I ever return to...

Permanent Resident without passport (Ex Refugee)

You can do anything you want to do. To travel out of Canada and return you don't need a passport, you can use instead PRTD. If you travel home, you will produce evidence that you don't need protection from persecution anymore, and as such your refugee status could be revoked. Since you received...

    Housing crisis in Canada

When we had the last housing crisis in the US it wasn't just wealthy investors who bought homes at a discount. Some average Joes did it too. A guy I know, who lives in California, actually bought 4 townhomes (next to each other) in LA, California (we have special programs/loans for that), and...

PR Residency Days - Is there a simple way to check exact number of days spent in Canada? (Last 5 years)

I don't think you can check it online and as @steaky stated GCMS notes are unreliable.

Travel by car with expired PR card

Your US Passport alone will suffice, you can travel by car or airplane, your choice. You don't need Canadian PR to travel or return to Canada.

    Housing crisis in Canada

Possibly yes. But that's when real estate investors (the smart ones) buy the property.

How can I immigrate to Canada as make up artist professional?

Hi Susan, you can contact the law forum which hosts this forum (Cohen Immigration Law) and ask for a consultation. Back in the days they used to offer free consultations, they still may. In case if you qualify for immigration and ready to apply, my next suggestion (very strong suggestion) would...

    Housing crisis in Canada

Housing market is headed for big crush. Just wait a bit, when market collapses prices will fall (may be for a short period of time), and that will be the time to buy.

Same sex marriage in Taiwan is it Recognized by Canada

If you are Canadian and want to marry your boyfriend, and want for it to be recognized in Canada, you can do the following: 1. Mary your boyfriend in a country where it's recognized. Note: If Philippines doesn't recognize same sex marriage, and if Taiwan only recognizes it if the marriage took...

    Renouncing PR

You could renounce it at the POE, but I guess you can't get to POE if you need an eTA. Other option to renounce PR is to apply for PRTD, but I don't know how long it would take them to process it. Not sure how you can expedite the process and quickly renounce your status. Good luck.

returning to country of origin after H&C

It's strange that it is pending approval, because I saw it for a brief moment. May be you made edits to it. If your account is new, they remove edited posts pending mod approval. Re: spending 1K, NEVER EVER PAY FOR CONSULTAITON. Some unscrupulous attorneys make money just by charging $350-$450...

returning to country of origin after H&C

If you do not meet RO, the risk to be reported again (and undergoing removal procedure) is always there. When I was brand new PR, the CBSA was still sending me to secondary (on land POE) and grilling on residence. If I was not a new PR and stayed out of Canada one day beyond the limit, I am sure...

returning to country of origin after H&C

Andy-smith, I saw your response the other day, where you described what Minister's Delegate told you and how your leniency under H&C might affect you in future if you return to your home country or leave Canada just for any kind of trip, and you were asking "what if jakklondon is correct"...

I have a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) and will travel to Canada to activate my PR. Do I need a Permanent Residende Travel Document (

Are you US Citizen? If yes, you don't need any document, other than your US passport and COPR, to travel to Canada and get landed. If you are not visa-exempt, then you should receive an Immigrant visa in your national passport, so you can travel to Canada and land. Any other questions?

I received "Procedure fairness letter" for my Permanent Resident Travel Document application, please let me know what should I do?

    1. That I don't know. 2. If you can't get to US it might be too late to apply for a visa. You will not be able to grab your passport on a short notice from one government agency and forward to another. If I were you, I would not pursue US visa now (but I would pursue it and try to get to Canada...

I received "Procedure fairness letter" for my Permanent Resident Travel Document application, please let me know what should I do?

If I were you, I would travel to Canada via US, to make sure you get full and fair hearing before IAD and can appear in any court having jurisdiction over your case, if necessary. As I repeatedly said in my posts on this forum, there are criminally minded individuals (just like gangsters on the...

returning to country of origin after H&C

I guess you are an alter-ego (another id) of one of the posters with whom you identify and constantly defend on this board? Otherwise, you must be blinded beyond recovery to miss all the personal attacks and ad hominems aimed at me that I have ignored (to no avail), ever since I registered on...

returning to country of origin after H&C

To OP: There is extra stupid poster, who is blind and too illiterate, and states that you were granted leniency at the border. But it is clear from your original post that you were reported by border agent, and it was minister's delegate who decided to consider your H&C claims and allow you to...
