    I had applied only for OCI on Oct 5th. The passport surrender application was submitted a month back. It took me almost a month to receive my cancelled pp & surrender certificate.

    Exactly. It's only legal from the time it is registered officially.

    Yeah I got to admit. It took me by surprise. Lol. The good thing though, there are atleast 5 to 6 counters which ensures the line moves quickly.

    I reached there at 6:30am & was 4th in line. The office opened at 8am and I was done by 8:20am.

    Submitted OCI application (walk-in) at BLS Brampton today, Was told to expect OCI within 6 weeks.

    A suggestion would be to apply for entry visa at BLS. It normally takes 7 business days to process. https://www.blsindia-canada.com/entryvisa.php
