Need Help with Housing Location - Around Vancouver Area

I live in the Brow of the Hill neighbourhood which doesn't have a great reputation. I checked out the area prior to moving there and the specific street where I would be living was fine. But it turns from fine to sketchy-looking with some old/semi-run down buildings pretty quick when you go...

Need Help with Housing Location - Around Vancouver Area

Then again the same can be said for living in Richmond, and wanting to visit the nature'y areas in North Vancouver or events in any city other than Richmond. I think a lot of it comes down to what exactly someone is looking for - I don't care much for seafood or an abundance of Chinese culture...

Need Help with Housing Location - Around Vancouver Area

The Lougheed area is great too; I lived at a 10m walk from the Mall for a few months. I suspect though with all the redevelopments it's a somewhat pricier area now than others? Saying Richmond/Vancouver don't have anything unique to offer of course isn't true, but for day-to-day life it...

Damn that sucks...I wish they at least told you what was wrong with the photos so you could make sure the next photos will definitely meet those specs.

Expect 2 months, give or take a few weeks. If the photos aren't satisfactory they'll send a request for new ones and it'll add 2 months to this timeline.

Need Help with Housing Location - Around Vancouver Area

If you're working remotely, consider moving to the suburbs where rent is considerably cheaper. I suggest Coquitlam - it has some of the best neighbourhoods in the Lower Mainland, lowest COL and still has all the amenities. It's main downside is a long commute time to Vancouver, but if you work...

Wow, that's very unfortunate to you. But good to know for the rest of us that ghost update != approval. I wasn't aware.

    One job experience fails

There isn't really a reason not to include previous work experience, unless you're absolutely sure either: (a) You will never receive points for it (e.g. NOC-C or D job for certain streams). (b) You can't obtain the appropriate documentation for it (even then, there's ways around this) (c) It...

    One job experience fails

Depends on the reason for rejection. Normally, if they reject work experience you simply don't get points for those years and that's it. So for your case, if they reject Job #1, but accept Job #2 and #3, you receive credit for 5 years of work experience (+3 months). They will re-calculate your...

PR approved in less than 6 months?

IIRC their goal is to process at least 80% of the applications in 6 months or less. And I've seen a lot of people here on the forum from outside Canada getting their PR well within this timeline as well. So 6 months is definitely possible, but factors like number of people on the PR application...

Agreed, it does lead to implications. IMO being a PR puts you in different category; you're now a taxpayer, working a job, contributing to society etc. That IMO gives a bigger degree of entitlement than someone applying for PR (don't get me wrong; I still think they should still improve the...

But a delay in PR applications doesn't actually lead to big implications; people end up waiting a bit longer but that's it. In this case, thousands of PRs in Canada are waiting while not having any kind of acceptable primary ID. It's the kind of issue for which "we are super busy and doing the...

Track your PR card timeline and processing times here

One thing I'm curious about: How can people who did their Landing in mid-December already be receiving their PR Cards, while people who had to re-submit their Photos in mid-November are still waiting? Are these applications going into different queues? It just seems skewed and unreasonable to me...
