Refugee status cessation and PRs applying for citizenship

Give 'em chance, mate. They only got your application 5 days ago. Ours arrived about 2 weeks after CIC received our application. Although occasionally people get within a few days on the spreadsheet, MOST people if you look get theirs in a few weeks, rather than days. I am sure you will hear...

Renew PR or wait for Citizenship application?

Agreed - it should really be centered around your travel plans. Our PR cards expire in October and obviously we are hoping to get our Oath ceremonies before then. But in the event we don't we probably won't renew our PR cards UNLESS we decide to travel outside of Canada. If you don't intend to...

IS THERE ANY CHANCE NEW CITIZENSHIP LAW WILL BE APPROVED EVER

When the Conservatives changed the system from 3/4 to 4/6 they ALSO streamlined the system, removing the need for a citizenship judge. So whereas it may take longer before you can apply, the process itself will take much less time - probably the total time to get the Oath ceremony is about the...

I am not allowed to divulge anything that is on the actual exam because of the non-disclosure clause (and in any case everyone gets a different exam, chances are you will not even get 1 question the same as my exam when you take yours). But what I will say is that generally I found the practice...

IS THERE ANY CHANCE NEW CITIZENSHIP LAW WILL BE APPROVED EVER

The Liberal Party did not write the Constitution of Canada. They took action to revoke elements of the C24 bill within a fair time frame of coming into office, but it is not the Liberal Party's fault that there are lengthy procedures involved in getting laws changed. These procedures are as...

IS THERE ANY CHANCE NEW CITIZENSHIP LAW WILL BE APPROVED EVER

Proposed bills have to go through first reading, second reading, committee, report, third reading, senate and finally Royal Assent by the Governor General. All of this takes time. The bill will likely not be approved until 2017, by which time all those currently "waiting" will have been...

    April 2016 Citizenship Applicants

Hi Wendy thanks for the update :) Yes we have someone from the Feb 2016 list who is also Vancouver office (we are Surrey office). Vancouver seem very quick to issue Cit tests (her app arrived pretty much the same day as ours, and yet got the cit test 7 weeks earlier than us) in comparison to...

    April 2016 Citizenship Applicants

Congrats Wendy! :) Not sure if you remember me from our old FSW PR thread ;p We took our test yesterday. 20/20 for both of us too - went really well (the test was way easier than I thought it would be). We were told 1 to 2 months for the ceremony, will have to wait and see. Our ECAS seems...

    February 2016 Applications

Hi - I studied from the book. I actually set myself questions based on pretty much everything in the book. I also did all the practice questions from the following resources, Run by Richmond Library http://www.yourlibrary.ca/citizenship/ http://citizenshipcounts.ca/quiz I think these are both...

I am not entirely sure. Generally I believe if you child is over 14 she takes the test independently of you, so I imagine she will be interviewed separately, but I can't confirm for sure. Myself and my wife were interviewed separately.

We are also Surrey. As I said we took the test yesterday - the guy told my wife "1 month or less" not sure if he was talking about the actual ceremony or our being informed of the date. He told me 2 to 3 months at the most so I think if your test is June then probably September is the latest...

    February 2016 Applications

Hi all, I also took my test yesterday - my wife and I both scored 20/20. Obviously because of the non-disclosure thing I can't divulge anything about the questions or the process, BUT I can say it was much easier than I thought it was going to be. I knew pretty much every date, name and fact...

    February 2016 Applications

I am inclined not to apply for a new PR card, unless I really have to. Even if it expires in October, I can still legally reside in Canada as long as I meet the eligibility for PR renewal, even if I do not apply for a new card. Your PR renews as long as you are eligible, you don't HAVE to apply...

Thanks for the update! Our ECAS is "stuck" on "We started processing your application.." even though we had our test invites sent in April. So I reckon that ECAS is a separate system and they just pass off updates to it to some clerk or other. This would explain why sometimes ECAS updates almost...

Interesting - we've had no communication other than the test invite letter by mail (our ECAS hasn't even updated to say they sent the letter back in April). Which is your processing office? Wayne

    February 2016 Applications

I think Vangel said after he went for the test in Vancouver the CIC officer told him 2 to 4 months for oath invite - but looking at the spreadsheet it does seem to look faster than that. I'd say 1 to 2 month is a reasonable timeline to guess.

Gratz apgd and Rayan14 on test invites! So our test in 7th June less than 2 weeks away now - studying going at a steady progress hope we are ready in time. Still neither mine nor my wife's ECAS has been updated - it's over a month since CIC sent the test invite letters yet ECAS still just says...
