hey , i submitted my docs after ITA on 1st May and submitted my medicals upfront as well . What is the next stage ? How long does it take to get an update ?

Go for the direct one and inform OINP about the same .. Try they might even refund your money .. not pretty sure this but you can give it a try !!!!
