    Gettin New SIN Number

If they approve the SIN, just get it and the eventually take care of any amendments at service Canada. SIN won't be changed anyways. If not just wait for rejection and apply new one at service Canada as soon as you are notified of rejection. You have to wait for 4 weeks anyways as you put in an...

Online Processing time for SIN(Social Insurance Number) in Canada

Option 1 would be the only option that would work for you. Just find a service Canada that is open and get it. It would be given right away. Online process takes at least a month to get SIN. As per law, you have up to 3 days after joining to provide your SIN.. so you can go on August 19 and get...

Landing experience by car at Peace Bridge POE at Buffalo, NY

on US side, what was their reaction after you explained about AVR process and after they said it won't be valid for your case, how did they again ask you to wait? when they said they cannot process you because you had change in employer, were you just standing there asking them to consider your...

Landing experience by car at Peace Bridge POE at Buffalo, NY

Wow, that was scary experience at an international border. Imagine if CBSA refused to let you become PR and if CBP refused to let you in USA.. you'd have been in no man's land! :) . Congrats on accomplishing this.. Just to add .. you had such an experience on both sides probably because you...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

You have to be within US similar to extension. Any time you need i94 attached at the bottom your petition, you should be inside USA while filing. If you are outside, you'll get approved only in consular mode which would require stamp to re-enter.

Trump Proclamation- Redoing Labor cert for already approved i140?

they typically stagger such announcements because every time when something like this gets published, it would get them lot of mileage in media both before (rumor type articles) and after publishing the EOs. ultimately that's the admin's end goal. bundling things at once means they lose an...

Trump Proclamation- Redoing Labor cert for already approved i140?

All that is correct for someone who wants to do things the right way and not for erratic admin like his. They are following don't ask for permission, just ask for forgiveness strategy. He did visa ban with a stroke of pen.. why wouldn't he do this 'merit based immigration' in the same way...

PR landing completed at Peace Arch border, no quarantine and returned to US using AVR

You know for sure that getting a positive or negative response in the call doesn't mean anything right.. everything is going to be dependent on the officer at that time. You would still keep worrying of the possible outcome. What's the use of repeated calling? Why don't you go with a plan for...

    Giving birth in Canada question

Why is nobody calling out the fact that Ontario (where majority of them end up) has waived off 3 months residence requirements due to pandemic? If she's moving now, there is no wait time for coverage and is covered from day one.

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

CBSA will definitely know that you broke that 14 day quarantine and went back to US as they have access to US entry records. consequences can be very serious on this and every of your future visits are going to be scrutinized if they get after you. It won't definitely go well for you as you...

Rumors about an executive order that bans the entry H1b holders around.

I suggest you to stick to popular port of entries like Detroit where more commuter traffic is present and not to take less familiar ports like MN. If not, just take the air route where it is lot less stressful to deal with the officers (at airport then road) as you’d still be within Canada.

Rumors about an executive order that bans the entry H1b holders around.

but if the officer says he cannot let you in, would someone need to request for secondary inspection or they will be taken there automatically? how does entry denial typically happen? one just needs to take U turn if officer says he can't let you in or what happens?

Rumors about an executive order that bans the entry H1b holders around.

Did MN officers say it is not allowed, or were they unsure whether it would be allowed or not? CBP head has clarified that AVR is not impacted by the proclamation. Also, I would go with whatever Detroit officers say as they deal with these things more frequently than any other ports and people...

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

there is nothing wrong in being extra careful as his extension has already been screwed once.. i presume they filed with his Windsor address before, it got NOID and they don't want things to be goofed up again putting everyone in spot..

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

i think they are doing the right thing and it is done in the interest of both company and yourself. if your next extension runs in to similar issues, it is a problem for you as well isn't it?

Daily commute (Detroit-Windsor) (H1b and Canada PR)

If your i94 is valid, you can definitely step out and come back while extension is pending. All USCIS cares is if someone was present in US on the day of filing. However, I suggest to put up in US until you have your receipt number to avoid complicating this matter further.
