Well, your interview was part of the process to finalize your application. They were at that time probably working on your application. You should call them and ask for an update on your application or request ATIP notes to see the notes made by the Citizenship officer.

You can' track the ATIP notes, it is for you to follow-up with IRCC if you don't receive them after 30 days. I have always received my notes within 30-35 days.

Oh in that case, the name on child’s passport will be used. But yes you can still provide a letter of explanation and that will probably be sufficient
