Permanent Residence Status - Expire due to Covid

I'm seeing more and more cases of PRs not meeting the RO because of Covid. Covid should be a separate checkbox in the PR renewal form by now. This wasn't like some passing disease for 2 or 3 months, it's been here since 2020 and nobody can predict how long it's going to stay so what is stopping...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

If it's not hurting them then it's worth changing because it would massively benefit immigrants, you know the same people who effectively drive the economy. If you want to talk about gains then simply more PR holders would be willing to take the leap instead of staying home and contemplating...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

Literally the entire immigration system is based on labour market needs, save the asylum seekers. Any feedback to calibrate immigration would come from how immigrants are faring economically ie their jobs. Canada takes in more immigrants than any other developed country in the world by some...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

Could you tell me how it would hurt Canada to reduce the RO from 3.5 years(I'm using this instead of the 2 years because you need 3 years plus a few months to eliminate the RO) to 6-8 months of continuous stay in say a 2 or 3 year period(you pick the period)? I'm not accounting for situations...

How difficult will it be for me to find a job in Canada, if I have a master's degree and 2 years of experience from my home country ?

Aside from what everyone else has said I would suggest this - Having work experience or a Masters doesn't get you a job. What gets you a job is how you tackle multiple rounds, sometimes an entire day of technical interviewing and this can't be learnt either in your Masters or even in your job...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

The 2/5 years is good for people who want to take their own time to enter and settle down in Canada after they've landed and picked up their PR cards so this cushion only addresses a part of the issue which is minor compared to the following - The real challenge starts when you actually land in...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

Lot of experienced folks are complaining about not getting jobs in their field and it's not just niche fields it's also fields like IT which produces a lot of jobs, it's not just inexperienced guys who are having trouble so when you couple that with this 3 year RO elimination requirement it's...

    Advice about work to settle

Sorry but you've made a mistake here. You should've taken that job, that was your entry point into the Canadian job market. You could've used that as a springboard to launch your career in Canada. That's actually how most people get going in Canada. Infact you're one of the lucky ones to get an...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

Going to school means taking on further debt without any guarantee of landing a field job and getting back on the minimum wage train. It's a genius system, keeps the economy going for sure.

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

How did they even come up with this number of 2 out of 5 years or 3 years and a few months to get rid of the RO? Why isn't it 1 out of 2 years or 3 out of 6 years or some other random number? What does this actually address? If you don't know why this number was chosen then your argument is no...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

Allow me to indulge you, scylla. Let me first say that I said to remove the RO out of frustration. I can understand why the RO is there but the issue is that it is out of sync with the ground realities in Canada that immigrants have to face. The most common use case is of immigrants who quit...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

I feel Canada should relax the RO if someone has been trying sincerely for a job while living in Canada and not getting one and are forced to go back to their home country as they can't sustain on a minimum wage job. I think they should also relax the RO for Covid, this needs no explanation...

    Changing work experience after ITA

I cancelled my ITA and reapplied with the 2 year work experience and thankfully still met the ITA cutoff. Yes I got my PR with that.

    PR Residency Obligation

From what I've read, you only get a waiver based on humanitarian grounds and I don't think Covid counts although I wish it did. Because their argument is that the RO is already lenient as you have to spend just 2 from a period of 5 years which needn't even be continuous(this is the key point)...

It says in that job posting that A Written Test, Interview and Reference Checks may be conducted. How do you prepare for that written test? Do they ask a bunch of puzzles?

    Govt job

I heard that it's easier to get govt jobs in Manitoba though I didn't get anymore insight than that. Probably worth bearing the cold for a govt job but I'm not sure I would want to spend my entire career in a freezer. At some point would like to move to a bigger province like Ontario or BC.

Are there any tricks to increase your odds of getting those govt jobs?
