I updated couple of days ago about the Ottawa situation. Their Oci machine is not working. They are taking the long route of printing in ND and dispatching it here. confirmed with high commission secretary via email.

I don’t think apart from Oci they have any other delays cos the officer mentioned only Oci applicants are affected and rest are working as per normal processing times.

I doubt they would really take that approach as other consulates will be overwhelmed with no of applicants. anyhow, I feel they should replace the machine considering they are charging so much for both surrender and Oci applicants.

Not sure about sending in batches. But, my status changed in 4 days from in transit to high commission and 6th day to “processing at high commission”. And I am just talking about surrender certificate. This is 4th week and I am still waiting :(

Seriously it is super slow. It’s not like there are many applicants submitting to Ottawa jurisdiction than the Toronto or Brampton. In dilemma now to apply for OCI or Indian visa. Even 2 months of buffer is not enough.

I will be applying soon for OCI from Montreal BLS.I believe I will be encountering similar issues. If I were you, I would email high commission to inquire about it. This is super slow compared to Toronto and Brampton bls.

What happens if I have Indian visa and Oci as well when I travel to India. Since I have booked tickets on October 1, that could be one of the possibilities. so when I go through immigration, will it be a problem that I have both visa and oci?

Honestly I was under impression that Ottawa processes applications faster compared to other offices. I really hope they understand lot of peeps want to visit their home country after a long time. Hope for faster processing!

The hold was because of one reference. Luckily agent said I can call right away and they made the call to my friend. Got the issue resolved. waiting in big line for my passport to be printed. Apparently passports are printed in the same location and not just Ottawa

Came today to pickup and they said there is hold on the passport cos one of the references did not pick up the call. such a lame excuse No notifications from them in queue again to speak to the agent will post soon what they say

I am in the same situation. Had 4 references and no guarantor and all 4 were called. 3 picked up the call and spoke to the agent but one couldn’t as he was busy and he tried to call back, it went to some busy line. Should I be concerned that only 3 out of 4 references could pick the call?

I am not sure you can do it virtually. For sure if they are in same room as yours during ceremony, they are allowed. I might be wrong but I don’t think someone can join virtually and you shouldn’t share the oath ceremony zoom link. maybe others can confirm this
