Hey, welcome! I noticed the flag....are you or your SO Moroccan? My husband who's sponsoring me (Canadian citizen) is :-) I also have a question about the Visa office you listed: it says Mississauga but we all mail our initial documents into Mississauga. Which Visa office will ultimately be...

    May 2011

Okay, so I don't want to be the negative one here but I was reading the other thread for Buffalo applicants and it said that only 2 (out of 20!) of the December (?) filing group has gotten their PPRs. I know it hasn't been that many months but 2?? So you can imagine how that makes me feel about...

    Thread for March 2011 Applicants!

Can't imagine that it's standard that the sponsor gets an email confirming his/her sponsorship was approved and that the file was transferred (that would be the AOR, even though it goes to him/her?), but the applicant doesn't get anything....anyone else?

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Oh God, Acknowledgement of Receipt refers to Buffalo, doesn't it? I think I just made myself look like an idiot again by thinking it referred to Mississauga/CIC. But seriously, do I get an email from them (CIC) or is the next thing I get from them a snail mail letter approving my husband as sponsor?

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

This is really helpful, doctorkb. Now that I read how you desribed AOR goes, I'm starting to worry. I did figure it came consistently one month after the application was sent (or is that the sponsorship approval? or is it both?). I mean, I have the verification they have it according to the...

    Thread for March 2011 Applicants!

Don't trust me on this, but I bet it's the AOR - acknowledgement of receipt. Anyone else able to confirm this?

Thanks as always for the correction. That was pretty embarrassing. I guess I should not post anything unless I know what I'm talking about, huh. Although, as long as it helps clear it up for someone out there, right? Maybe I was thinking of COPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form, or...

Indeed. It's just one bunch of stressors going away but another bunch of stressors taking their place. We breathe a sigh of relief after we drop it off at the post office, but we continue worrying for some time to come.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I guess I wrote this post way too late last night because I was under the impression chess101's signature said s/he got his/her passport request, but that's not the case (am I right to assume that once you get the passport request, the PPR should come relatively soon after?). Still, it does make...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Ok, I know I'm a rookie. But the fact that a passport request came and a PPR is NOT imminent (not for months), kinda scares me and freaks me out. Whyyyyy would one have to wait so long when it looks like they are almost to the finish line?? Hope you don't have to wait much longer, chess101 :'(

Joint Bank/Financial Accounts and how it affects your application

Judging by your visa office, canadianwoman, I guess you are talking from experience when you say, "from, say, West Africa" huh? (if it's any solidarity, my husband is originally from North Africa). Yes, indeed, every little bit helps. The only thing in this financial affairs field that we...

Joint Bank/Financial Accounts and how it affects your application

Thanks, Rinnerz. I guess what I am getting from people is the equivalent of "why not, can't hurt." And I think the problem is that my husband, even though he came to Canada himself on the Skilled Class visa, does not realize the nature of these family class applications where the burden falls on...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Thanks for the clarification, Rinnerz. I think this was a bad choice of words on my part, but what I meant to convey was that American citizens are normally granted the 6 months. My husband, who's Canadian, has always been going around saying "they have the right" so I think I picked it up from...

    Divorce

Very good point, rjessome. I think we need to learn more about who is who here and how each came to Canada before giving advice.

Aw, that is really sweet. If you want to be together while you wait it out, no matter what, maybe just have him keep his stuff with someone and periodically mail it "general delivery" to the closest USPS office to your Canadian town. Then he can come from Canada with a non-imported car and pick...

Joint Bank/Financial Accounts and how it affects your application

Wow, these boards move fast! I see I've already got a response and a handful of views and it's only been a few minutes since posting. Thanks StumpedMom! I look forward to others' comments about whether they showed CIC they combined and what their timeline is.

Joint Bank/Financial Accounts and how it affects your application

Hi, I don't know if this topic has been sufficiently covered yet but if you'll allow me, I'd like to get everyone's take on exactly what joint bank accounts can do for the final decision as well as processing time. Obviously, I'm aware that this would help an application as a couple is more...
