    July 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

What did the checklist YOU SUBMITTED say? Did it say just the biographical pages (11/2020 version)? Or color copies of all pages (06/2021 version)?

Urgent Processing - Citizenship Application (Lets meet here )

It's a catch-22. Such jobs (requiring security clearance) require that you possess Canadian citizenship at the time of application. For example, the following is from the FAQ of the CSIS website: Can a permanent resident (PR) apply? You must be a Canadian citizen to work for CSIS. If you apply...

Do you currently, or have you ever held immigration or citizenship status in a country other than Canada?

That is what the "application guide" says. However, the application form itself does list "visitor" as one of the statuses in that section: That's IRCC confusion for you!

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

You don't have any non-English/French stamps on your passport pages? Lucky you!

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

That's a good question, and it is why they started exit control as of June 2020 for air travel. But not soon enough, in my opinion. If they suspect the applicant had been out of Canada for an extended period of time, and if entry/exit stamps on the passports don't show this, I heard that they...

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

This is another irritating confusion from IRCC. The drop-down menu of the application form does have "Visitor" listed as an "immigration status. However, in the application Guide, they did not mention visitor as an immigration status: "Tell us which countries you have held status in, and...

It won't be returned. You don't have to worry.

Passport - all pages new rule

I would like to think that the folks at IRCC are not an unreasonable bunch. Since they gave no advance warning about this impending change, I would venture to say that they should still accept applications submitted under the previous set of requirements for some time (at least 1 month?) after...

Passport - all pages new rule

The "modified date" is highly misleading. This printout from June 23rd still shows the 'old' requirements.

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

I understand the 'certified translation" part. I just need to find a certified translator to do that. But the last bullet refers to "certified copies of the original document". That means the photocopies of the passport – at least the pages to be translated, need to be certified.

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

Now that I look more into the issue of translation, it is even more irritating than I thought: Translation of documents You must submit the following for any document that is not in English or French, unless otherwise stated on your document checklist: the English or French translation; and...

Request for copies of passport pages

The biographical page is bilingual in Chinese and English.

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

The translation itself could very well be done in a day or two. But since I am planning to submit on paper, I will also need the translator to send the hard copies to me, which will cause delays.

Request for copies of passport pages

And just to be clear, we don't have to translate the biographical page, right (because there is already English in it?

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

The submission of all passport pages requires translations of the non-English stamps. This will delay my submission. I just want it to be over with. Also, I can't characterize what @GuyanaGirl did as a mistake in any sense. At best, she and others (and I want to include myself in this...

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

I doubt they will return your application. They can't be that bad (I hope). The worst is they ask you for additional documents later.

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

I already have the application form completed, and I have the "old" checklist and Guide. I am going to submit in early July. My plan is to simply submit the form and documents according to the information prevailing at the time I started to complete the application (i.e., on the 23rd). It is not...

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

It's very sneaky of them. I printed out a copy of the Guide on June 23rd (the PDF printout bears the date), and in that version, only "photocopies of biographical pages of all valid and expired passports" during the eligibility period were required. Now, the online Guide is requiring COLR...

    June 2021 - Citizenship Applicants

I had the same problem using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. I then downloaded Acrobat Reader DC, and could fill in the language section using that software. The application form is very buggy. And honestly, we should not have to switch to a different PDF reader to complete the form. It's a joke.
