Successful citizenship experience: moved abroad after applying

How the office -to which the citizenship application is sent- is selected? Is it an option or must be the city/province of the applicant's residence? Or a central office distributes the applications as it was the case for the PR? I don't think all provinces have the same percentages of...

    Stay or leave Canada?

Is your husband working full-time? How long-have you been in Montreal? $1200 for sponsorship is not that much. I don't know if you can find another better place. There is always a risk of not liking it wherever you go. It's tough to find new friends in new countries, especially for immigrants...

Expert Advice on Accommodation in Quebec

As suggested look on Kijiji. Compare the prices. Downtown is more expensive than other areas. You could reserve Airbnb apartment before your arrival to find a place where you can stay for a couple of weeks while searching for a permanent place. It's cheaper than a hotel. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Leaving Canada after applying

Based on all of this, if someone doesn't have a job in Canada, going abroad after applying is at best costly and inconvenient. For me coming to Canada 3 times from where I would be living/working would cost me as much as living in Canada for 6-7 months, and I would need to arrange a flight in as...

Successful citizenship experience: moved abroad after applying

Could you share how much time they gave you between the invitation for the test and the date of the test? And the same for the oath? Do you think that if you tell them you are abroad they might give you more time to present yourself for the test and oath? Because some people seem to have as...

    Leaving Canada after applying

I searched for the spreadsheet for 2018. The first few applicants seem to get their applications processed fairly quickly (~6 months) with very few people with FP requests. But later in the spreadsheet, there are applicants who sent their applications as early as Jan. 2018, and still waiting for...

    Leaving Canada after applying

Why they "might" send fingerprint request? It's not required for all applicants? And I assume I need to be present in Canada to do it, right? So, I need to be in Canada for the fingerprints, test, and oath. Not as easy as I thought it might be.

    Leaving Canada after applying

So, after submitting an application for the citizenship, and assuming everything goes right, there is first the test, then the oath, and then the passport application. Right? How far are these spaced out from each others?

Just two weeks? I appreciate if someone else could confirm this. Thanks for the information, though.

    Leaving Canada after applying

I understand that you left Canada after applying for the citizenship. Did anyone ask you "why" when you presented yourself at the oath or when you applied for the passport?

    Leaving Canada after applying

Yes, if I leave I will put my friend's address in Canada to keep me updated in case they send anything via mail.

    Leaving Canada after applying

How long do they usually give to present yourself for the oath, for example? Last minute flights implies that they give a couple of days. Is this the case?

    Leaving Canada after applying

The only issue that seems to me is to respond in a timely manner, which I think with every request being sent via email with some time margin to respond, there is a little risk. I think I can meet these time margins with no problems.

Sorry you have been waiting for so long. Why do you think that might be? Have they contacted you regarding specific documents or issues?

    Leaving Canada after applying

But I cannot stop my whole life and stay in Canada without a job. Currently, I don't have any source of income. I held a job for 2 years, but have been struggling to secure another job. Currently I have a job offer from abroad, but I am thinking to decline the offer, because I have been waiting...

    Leaving Canada after applying

So if they asked why did you leave after applying for the citizenship, is the answer "I left because I couldn't find a job in Canada" OK and acceptable? My concern is that if they feel I cannot find a job in Canada, they would think that I will take my passport and leave Canada, which could...

    Leaving Canada after applying

Yes, I would say the truth. I want to settle in Canada, as I got job offers from outside Canada, but I want to stay in Canada and see how things will unravel until the date of my eligibility. But after applying, if I still cannot find a job in Canada, I am leaving temporarily until I get my...
