Background check and prohibitions are still in progress

Well, this thread and all the others named something similar to "stuck in ackground check" exist because yeah, there are plenty of people in your situation, including some I know personally. We don't know how many, but definitely tens of forum members and thousands of people across Canada...

Application for Canadian Citizenship - A Comprehensive Guide

Give that the average time to get to oath these days is 6 months for 80% of applicants, AOR is significantly lower than that... Probably a month or less.

    Forgot to mention my flagpoling

Well, you have to report every "trip", regardless of the length. So yeah, the flagpoling should have been listed, why is why I used the word correction. But I practice, whether you send said correction or not (and ideally, better to send it I'd say), don't worry about it too much. It's not a big...

    Forgot to mention my flagpoling

Sure, you can send the correction, no harm in that. It will have minimal effect in your application as it doesn't change the number of days, but why not correct an omission?

    English Language Proficiency Proof

    @Aqua1 these tests don't expire. You'll be good. Source : https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=595&top=5

I am worried that I'll be selected for non-routine processing.

Well, OP only controls 2 things : 1) the buffer over the 1095 days minimum. 2) the accuracy of the information given in the application. The only thing he should focus on right now is to have a good buffer and a precise application. How the application will actually go is yet to be seen. Why...

I am worried that I'll be selected for non-routine processing.

You don't "count" the days yourself to decide what to or not to claim. You list the days you entered and left Canada and let the tool calculate the days for you, regardless of your work situation. Being unemployed will not be a problem.

    June 2024 - Citizenship Applications

Current average time is 7 months. You're halfway there only. No real point contacting IRCC yet or doing anything beside waiting.

    Physical presence calculation time zone

The physical presence calculation you're supposed to provide is your own reporting of your days exiting and entering the country, not a copy paste of the CBSA report. And in your own reality, regardless of what the CBSA system registered (and such system also registered the point of entry, so...

July 2023 application. Background screening still pending

It's not really possible to answer this. Many in the forum started the process and saw IRCC ask them to withdraw the mandamus in exchange of a quick decision, but we can't really know whether these situations were simply cases of IRCC dragging their feet for applications that were close to...

    Citizenship Application Resubmission

Well, you obviously have to put the city where you are at the moment you sign your location, and you'll need to update the physical presence to reflect the days spent inside and outside Canada since your previous application. If you're just vacationing, send your application in a few days/weeks...

CSIS and CBSA notes for Background Check

The CSIS notes are pretty much this : "Your security screening is in progress (or other status) and we won't say anything more because of this or that section of the Privacy / Access to information Act . You can contact us at <mail> or <phone> (but yeah, we won't say more anyway due to above...

    No Custody Documents

To add to the previous comment from @forw.jane, you won't need any custody document for the passport application either as long as both parents are signing the kid's application. It may require sending the passport application by mail if the ex-husband leaves far from you but that's about it.

    Electronic Canadian certificate (e-certificate)

The government announced last year that there should be, at some point, a portal to renew the passport online. While this doesn't change much for 1st time applicants (and who knows when it happens...), maybe it makes it imaginable that, some day, 1st time passport wi also doable online, in...

    Why is status not changing?

Every step is separate and IRCC agents verify them at different times. And we can't say how long it will take. If you're lucky, you'll have your oath ceremony before Christmas, if you're not, it will happen in 2026. All we know is that 80% of complete applications are processed within 7...

Letter of Explanation with Citizenship Application

    1) no need to ask unrelated questions in someone else's thread. 2) it would have taken you less time to google it than to ask here, and you would have found out that the time spent as a student counts as 50%, of which you can accumulate a year.

    Days for Canadian Citizenship

Actually, you don't get to "claim" days. You just have to state the days you spent in Canada, by being as accurate as possible since IRCC will verify your entries/exits. And since all the days you're speaking about here are days with PR status, there should be no issue (IRCC sometimes tells...

    Days for Canadian Citizenship

    1) you should claim every single day you spent a minute of in Canada, if it falls within the 5 years period. So yes, those days in Winnipeg should be listed. 2) the physical presence and the tax residency are completely separate. If you didn't need to file with CRA, you can put no to both...

    stuck on security screening

I'll take your word for it if you got your citizenship after a writ of mandamus you went for right after you passed the average time then, and not after a long delay. That's good omen for @kyoussef . Cheers :)

    stuck on security screening

Well, once the processing of your application is "significantly" longer than expected. In your case, you applied 10 months ago, which isn't crazy long yet (average processing time was 11 months mid 2023 after all) and is probably still too soon. Maybe 18 months or 2 years starts getting mandamus...
