Yes i did graduate, before i started working, but i applied for PGWP permit before i got the job, Just that the work permit didnt come on time, so basically, i worked 2 months after graduation without a work permit.
Let me try to make it clear. If you submit application now with OWP, your gf can still work on her PGWP while the papers are in progress, even before AIP. However if she does not not receive her OWP until after her PGWP expires, she must stop working on last day of PGWP. She would have to wait...
A PGWP cannot be extended. You need an LMIA to apply for a closed work permit or to apply for PR before your PGWP expires so you can get a bridging work permit.
If you are only waiting to take your language test (and otherwise have enough Canadian work experience) then you may want to change...
You can work full time AFTER applying for the PGWP. That means there are no restrictions on hours.(unlike an off campus work permit)
As long as you applied for a PGWPbefore you started working you are fine.
You mentioned you applied in Jan 2015 and started work in Jan 2015. You did not...
Omolola,
Unfortunately work experience during studies or co-op doesn't apply. The CEC work experience requirement is based on working after graduation with a PGWP.
Cheers!
I recently received my PGWP in the mail. I am planning on travelling to the UK in December and returning in January and I am concerned about not having authorization to come back to Canada (on my pgwp it states "does not authorize re-entry" and old study permit expires before I leave). It also...
Did you mention in your PGWP app that you were on implied status and waiting for a study permit extension? Did you work after applying for the PGWP - before the extension was approved?
I don't think you can work now that your PGWP is refused. It doesn't matter if your SIN is still valid.
Actually, you shouldn't have worked full time after you finished school before you got your PGWP. That means you were working illegally.
Did they tell you why they refused your PGWP?
You are not eligible to extend your PGWP until you have an ITA and have applied for PR. Having submitted a profile doesn't make you eligible for a BOWP. You need for a draw to happen and get ITA. So you can apply for BOWP once you have applied for PR, and are within 4 months of expiry.
Your work experience is authorized from the date you submitted your PGWP application. So as long as you applied for the PGWPbefore you started working, those 6 weeks will count.

Hello, I am an international student. I have a full time job and i can work full time till 31st of July under the public policy that students can work full time. After that I can work part time. I have asked my employer to change my status to part time which they have agreed to from 1st August...
Yes, that part I understand.
However, my question was specifically for the "implied status" period, where my PGWP has expired and the new work permit has not yet been issued.
Would I still be working under the conditions of the PGWP?
So, I'd be able to work another job during that implied status...
I don't know where Monkucha get the information, but in my opinion it is not illegal to work during the transition period from Off campus work permit to PGWP (providing that you already apply for one before your off campus work permit expired)
Please see this link that I found on several...
My PGWP expired in July, and I've submitted all documents I believe week before the expiration date. And it's been more than 90 days, and I still haven't heard from them.
Also, can I still continue working under this implied status? or should I stop?
I will be graduating by Aug 31 and within few days my grades will be released. My study permit expired on March 31st 2020 and I applied for an extension on February but there has been no update yet.
My dilemma is what I need to do after I graduate and to find the best option that will allow me...
