I think as long as you registered 9-12 credits (depending on guideline in your institution) you are considered as a fulltime student. I also dropped courses when I was in university. 7 courses sound crazy and it is not a sustainable load for majority of people. I recommend you take 4-5 courses...

I mean your student Permit. When I flagpoled my TRV also expired which is fine. In fact as long as your student permit is not expired you don't need a TRV for re-entry from the states.
