Please sign this petition everyone. Lets get as many signatures as possible to make a difference with processing times. Thank you so much

Given PR quotas processing can’t get faster. You would be much better off limiting your petition to a request for dependents to get temporary permits (SOWP and SPs) while protected person is applying for PR with them as dependents. That may be more feasible although still creates issues because it increases the volume of temporary residents.

I applied for SOWP for my dependent and it's 8month , that I'm waiting eligibility hasnot been started and security aswell, we even couldn't be sponsor of our dependent overseas because we still don't have the ECOPR.

I am suggesting that like many others on a WP the argument could be made that while waiting for PR dependent family members could get an SOWP or study permit. Like other SOWPs and SPs for family members of temporary residents there may have to be proof that you can financially support your family without government help.

It is actually good strategic advice and much more feasible than what the petition is asking for. Don’t take my advice but given last year’s 3 year immigration plan and sentiment around immigration in Canada it would be better to try to sell a more palatable solution like SOWPs and SPs for dependent family members. There would likely need to be a condition that the protected person is employed and can support their family without government help. This would be viewed as more of an economic benefit than a humanitarian move so easier to justify. There have been similar petitions in the past and nothing has happened and that was during a time when the government was not trying to reduce the volume of temporary residents and PRs approved per year. Also during a time when the economy was doing well and when most in Canada were supportive of all forms of immigration which is no longer the case. You have to think like the government and a politician versus the protected person for the best chance of success.

Why do you bother ?

People want preferred processing and need to touch the grass

Adding RARELY is there a posting from those that got asylum where they say they appreciate all that Canada has done for them

Rarely
This constant complaining
Like nails on a chalkboard

Who are you? the new IRCC Minister? or just another curious citizen! Are you paying our bills and just forgot to let us know?
If that’s the case, I actually have a couple of bills coming due — happy to send them your way!

Hello sister inaya,

Such a petition will be definitely met with deaf ears. The government knows better than anyone else that in-Canada refugees (claimants then protected persons) experience long separation periods from their family members. One of the objectives could be to discourage people from applying for asylum from inside Canada.

Fast processing of refugee claims / PR applications for protected persons and their families could definitely encourage everyone to apply for asylum, away from regular immigration paths, this is the last thing that the Canadian government wants.

I believe that what Canuck78 is suggesting is absolutely practical for protected persons and their family members. Having secured the status in Canada, the main issue for protected persons remains in the separation from family members. If there is a way, albeit temporary, to bring family members to Canada while their files are being processed, this will benefit both the protected persons and their family members and Canada's economy at the same time. Instead of waiting outside Canada for years, these families could live these years inside Canada. The government did a similar thing post-covid by easing the requirements for visitor visas, they wanted to bring hundreds of thousands of people to Canada. I hope that the government can open this door for the families of protected persons to join their principals here in Canada even on a temporary basis while waiting for processing the PR applications. I really hope that the government will facilitate such a move, allowing protected persons to bring their families here if they can prove that they can support them financially.

Unlike many of the people in this forum, I highly appreciate the inputs of Canuck78. These inputs are honest and transparent. He tries to present the facts without any illusions. He has great experience and he definitely adds value to the forum, just like Simba, Scylla, etc.

Sometimes, or maybe most of the times, he tries to draw the attention to the 'dark' sides of probabilities, not necessarily out of 'hatred' to refugees, but to open their eyes to such possibilities, that the processing could really take ages. Yes, as refugees, we need hope, but we don't need illusions.

Maybe it is a human nature that we prefer to hear what we 'hope' to hear, not the blatant facts and negative possibilities.

Thanks. Many people fail to think about proposed policy from both sides when making these suggestions or the current political and geopolitical landscape. While the government is worrying about the volume of asylum seekers coming from the US, the attempt to reign in immigration and deal with a bad economy asking for blanket family reunification for protected people will be easily dismissed. A more reasonable and nuanced proposal would have a much higher chance of success although still may be difficult because it would create a 2 tiered system of protected people which is problematic in itself.

Actually, like every other taxpayer, they do pay for at least some of your bills. That's pretty fundamental in a social welfare state....you should brush up on "Canada". As for your unpaid bills, maybe try living within your means.

Yes and we are taxpayers aswell so we are not living on “your money”, get your facts straight. We all contribute just as much as citizens do, IF NOT MORE. And this is thread is clearly not welcoming of people like you so respectfully, take your “tax” money and gtfo.
