I hope we will get AIP at least after 22 months right now.I've noticed they still giving AIP but the problem I see these last months is the stage 2 not moving at all, you can check everywhere, nothing is moving on stage 2.

We will see how it goes. Thank you. What mentioned processing times especially guaranteed ones? Unless your processing times are much longer (6+ months) than others all you can do it wait. IRCC is not going to start magically processing applications faster if you claim that posted processing times have been exceeded. They have a set amount of applications that can be processed and approved every year. They have too many applications and a smaller quota so processing will get longer. Hopefully H&C reforms get done soon but not sure most also are prepared for how drastic the changes will have to be to deal with this huge mess of a program.
As per IRCC they expected it to take 5-7 years to clear the H&C backlog which has only grown since they collected their data. They are making it very clear that processing will get longer. We will see how it goes. Thank you.
Then least they can do, they can share our places in the queue so we can make an inference based on that instead of sharing processing time which is useless and has no meaning. I have been waiting for 21-22 months almost already. Based on what we have this forum, not many people waiting for longer than 25 months and hopefully our time will come soon.As per IRCC they expected it to take 5-7 years to clear the H&C backlog which has only grown since they collected their data. Yes but you applied from Quebec. Still in processing time for there.Me 34 months![]()
I know right :/Yes but I already got my CSQ, so what’s the point of holding us
Most immigration programs are not FIFO until after P1 so IRCC couldn’t tell you if they wanted to. They are being more upfront about processing times and trying to give people an idea but this is not a static issue and has many moving parts. H&C program doesn’t actually have to exist so for many this is an opportunity to try and secure PR that they would otherwise not had. Don’t want to be harsh but the H&C program is still a huge opportunity for most who don’t have other options no matter how long processing takes. Then least they can do, they can share our places in the queue so we can make an inference based on that instead of sharing processing time which is useless and has no meaning. Thanks for your detailed response. Appreciate your help.!
- No, you cannot apply for a work permit extension without a job offer or continuation of the previous job or you can try contact immigration to send Interim work autorization for 180 days
- Apply for a new open work permit before it expires If you have a valid job offer and, if required, an LMIA, you should apply for renewal before the expiration date.
- Change status to visitor If you don’t have a guaranteed job, you can apply to change your status to visitor before the work permit expires, allowing you to stay legally in Canada but without work authorization.
- Explore other immigration options Depending on your situation, you might qualify for an LMIA-exempt work permit.
- If you take no action, after expiration, you will have 90 days to restore your status, but tyou will need a new employer willing to provide a qualifying job offer
is the best i can help you this happen to me long time ago
Have you received AOR? Realistically processing won’t start for over a year.Hi all. I have applied for H&C through a immigration lawyer. Is there a way, I will be able to track the application status? When I check its shows there is no UCI linked to this application.
Thanks for your detailed response. Appreciate your help.!
Can’t agree with you more. We all appreciate for the opportunity but just the waiting part hurts us a lot. Most immigration programs are not FIFO until after P1 so IRCC couldn’t tell you if they wanted to. IRCC has said it will take 5-7 years to clear the backlog of applications. I'm not sure what you mean by confirmed. This information came directly from IRCC.So are we gonna wait 5 to 7 years???? Is this confirmed??????
As of March 2025, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has made significant progress in reducing its immigration backlog, with pending applications dropping below one million for the first time in months, and the backlog is now at 942,300.IRCC has said it will take 5-7 years to clear the backlog of applications.
