First congratulations to you for your PR
What about those ppl that passports was seized at IRCC inland office
Can get it at 6900 Airport rd??
I know it's very old post but I'm gonna write mt experience which I had today.

My passport was taken at IRCC office in Hamilton office, I withdrew my refugee claim and now I applied to get my passport back and travel back home.

Step one: I went to IRCC office at Saint clair in Toronto without appointment and it took less than 10 minutes to withdrew my claim, I just filled a form and the next day I got a call from them they said my approval document ( refugee claim withdrawal letter) is ready for collection. So I collected it and then I had a hell of time calling CBSA helpline, I tried many numbers and none of them were useful and some numbers were not even able to connect with agents. It was a nightmare dealing with CBSA helpline and I lost hope of getting my passport back.

Finally I was able to connect with CBSA mississauga office and they told me if I submitted my passport at IRCC the time when I was claiming refugee case then it should be there with IRCC.

Step 2:-

So, then I went to hamilton IRCC office without appointment and I told them how do I get my passport and they told me I need to go to 6900 road CBSA office and I went straight there and it took half an hour, I had a short interview and filled a form, the officer told me if u book your own flight ticket then you might get back your passport within a week or maximum in 10 days but if you want government to buy you ticket then it can take 2 or more months.

So I told them I will buy my own ticket as I wanna fly as soon as possible. The officer said you might get your passport within 4 or 5 working max 10 days.

The CBSA guy also told me, they will send me an email once they get my passport from the IRCC then only I can proceed to book my flight ticket and once I have ticket then passport will be returned to me at the airport only.

Let's see now what happens, I will come back here and edit this post with the outcome.

I mean how useless was CBSA mississauga office, they told me I would get passport from IRCC where it was taken from my but IRCC office people told me, they can't give passport and it has to go through CBSA.
So this is the answer for your question but your post is very old and I hope you managed to get it done.
I thought I would spare sometime here to write this message in case it help others because when I wanted help there was one thread I saw here on this topic but that had a roller coaster of replies and no one clearly mention how the process was.

I have a question if i could get a proper answer to it. So i am from Pakistan and i claimed an asylum. Our passport has a valid us visit visa. Can i use that visa to travel to usa?
I also have Pakistani passport with USA and UK valid visas but when I applied for asylum in Canada (Toronto), my passport was taken from my by the IRCC office and they seized it.
It's been 13 months, my hearing is just about to come but I decided to withdraw my case and go back home.
Now today, I applied with CBSA to get my passport back, as soon I get my passport then I will travel to Pakistan.
So the answer to your question is, even if you have other country visas on your passport, you can't travel once you file your asylum case in Canada they are gonna take the passport.

Btw after my refugee claim I received email from us consulate that they cancelled/revoked my visa. It was my second visa. Nothing illegal with US. I came directly from back home to Canada etc. If you are planing to travel make sure it’s still valid.

But I got new one on my refugee travel document for 10 years.

When I became a PR, IRCC Etobicoke never returned my passport. Now that I’m a citizen, I requested to pick it up about a month ago, as that was the only option available. I sent an email and also mailed the same request with details via Xpresspost, but I haven’t heard from them since.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to respond? Has anyone had experience with this office?

Hi everyone, I just got my passport yesterday from CBSA at 6900 Airport Rd, Mississauga. The process is very easy. Went in with my copr document , showed them and then they asked for a valid ID which I showed my Ontario photo ID card. Then I was given a form to sign and was then given my passport. Seamless and easy process. No hassle, no questions.

Aww that's great, glad you got your passport.
I don't know why the CBSA ar 6900 Airport road did not give me my passport when I visited them. I filled a form and they told me I need to wait for a week or ten days and then they will notify me when to book the flight and then they will return my passport at the airport.

Did you do refugee claim at the airport or inland? Because I did it inland and my passport was taken from my at IRCC office in Hamilton.
When i withdrew my refugee case then I visited the same IRCC office in Hamilton and they told me i need to go to the CBSA office at the airport road. I told them but I gave you my passport, they said your passport is probably with us but we can't give u and you have to go through the CBSA process. So then I visited that CBSA office at the airport road but they told me now I need to wait for a week or ten days then they will inform me when to book the flight and I would get my passport at the airport.

Now it's 5th day today and I still haven't heard anything back yet while I need to travel urgently as soon as possible but looks like getting passport is a nightmare.

I'm glad you made it easily but I failed to understand how come they gave you your passport on the spot, maybe you did asylum at the airport? Appreciate your input

Hi, I guess because mine didn't involve withdrawing any claim. I initially claimed asylum but later got my PR through spousal sponsorship. So maybe that might have an effect.
I guess they might still be holding onto yours because they want to make sure you leave since you withdrew your claim as opposed to them giving you and you not leaving if you have no other processes or applications keeping you here.
That's all I can think of.

Ah I see yeah that could be the reason but my asylum was proper and then I withdrew. So yeah that could be. Thank you so much for clarifying to me

But I wonder why it takes time, I'm ready to leave Canada right now as im typing and they are the one making it late for me. I'm in emergency and I wanna go back home ASAP but their system I don't understand. It's my 5th day and I'm waiting for a call from them, I can't book flight also
