FOr anyone that has applied under the new Outland Policy - how did you prove your status in Canada? My husband is going to be flying to Canada in May and wishes to apply for OWP (as likely his PR will not be approved by then)
What will he use as proof of status considering he is from ETA country? Should he avoid the kiosks at POE and go through manned CBSA desks - ie to get a stamp in his passport?

Hello. Did you get an answer to your question? My husband is coming on visitor visa in March. He is outland applicant. Wondering how to apply for OWP under the new policy.

If question is about getting stamp at airport, he can ask at the airport. Procedure typically is that when he does the automated kiosk passport thing, it will spit out a receipt that is shown to an officer.

When he speaks to an officer - ask if he can get a passport stamp.

Now the thing is - with that receipt sometimes you go to an officer at the exit to customs who just glances at it and waves you through, OR to an officer at a desk who typically asks a question or two, looks at their little screen and docs, and then waves you through. The former might not physically have a stamp, the ones at desks do (even if they don't usually stamp).

You can also ask anyone you happen to speak to. If they ask why, just say you like to have the stamps.

If it doesn't work to get a passport stamp, I think the boarding pass will be enough proof for the OWP app.

My husband already got visitor visa stamped for 10 years. When he lands in Canada, does he have to ask for visitor record from CBSA? I thought CBSA will only stamp his passport
Stamp in passport should be enough. Note that despite the ten year validity, that's not to stay all that time - default stay is 6 onths, which he can request to extend.

A TRV is just a travel visa. Whether you can enter Canada and how long you can stay is always determined at the border.
