Hi All,
I have submitted file for my wife PR sponsorship in July 2023. I have received an email today from IRCC stating that I need to pay for Biometrics. My wife did her Biometrics in Feb 2023 when I applied for her visitor visa and I think the Biometric is valid for some period of time. Please suggest me the right action. Thank you in advance.

There was a time when the IRCC was accepting TRV biometrics for PR applications, due to covid. I am quite sure they have now reverted to the requirement to procure fresh biometrics for PR and not accepting those done for TRV, no matter how recent. If you look at the IRCC site under biometrics requirements, I think you will see that.

  • Temporary residence applicants are not required to provide their biometrics in support of any subsequent temporary residence applications (including TRVs, work and study permits, visitor records and TRPs) made within a 10-year period of prior biometric enrolment.
  • When issuing an immigration document, the officer must ensure its validity does not exceed the remaining validity of the applicant’s biometrics. Applicants may choose to voluntarily re-enroll their biometrics and pay the required fee before the end of the 10-year period, which allows applicants to apply for a visa that extends beyond their current biometric validity. For example, applicants who want to apply for a new 10-year visa, and who last enrolled their biometrics 8 years ago, can obtain a visa for a maximum of only 2 years. If they wish to obtain a visa for a longer period, such as, the full 10 years, they need to resubmit their biometrics and pay the $85 fee.
Permanent residence to temporary residence
  • Permanent residence applicants are required to enrol their biometrics in support of every application (even if the applicant has valid biometrics enrolled under the temporary resident stream).

Thank you so much for your reply. I did check their website and I even tried to locate the status of previously submitted biometrics and it says that Biometrics is not found. I think I need to submit the Biometrics again.

You will need new biometrics, they're no longer accepting the ones from TRV apps.

Any idea if its possible to submit just biometric?
I have my multiple entry visitor visa from 2017, but never provided bio as it was not required that time. After getting the visa I never got chance to visit.
My visa is still valid for 3 years and now I want visit so. I dont want to submit another visa request since I already have one.

It seems to me you're overthinking this. What makes you think you need to submit a biometric now? If your visa is still valid, just use it.
