Yes, I was in USA when I completed the application. One of the questions was "Are you applying from another country?" I had marked that as "No" even though I was applying from USA. I am a Canadian PR so there wasnt any problem with entering Canada

It's at the discretion of the visa officer. I changed two companies since my first H1b stamp and also applied for Dropbox while I was in US, so it could be anything.

I dropped in Calgary. The processing times are pretty faster than other consulates especially in Calgary and Vancouver. My documents were received by Consulate on May 18 and they updated online status on May 25. After a week I got called for an interview and here I am back in US under 4 weeks

Honestly I dont know , was too busy with my meetings that day, i saw the email first and then checked the status. I wanna say they are usually pretty close to each other. They update the case first and later send the email.

Happened to me too... and status changed to Refused on third update and got an email for interview later. I think the next update is critical factor for you

No i doubt, in my case i did dropbox and was called for interview which opened up new dates for me to select from. I know many people who login everyday and couldnt find the slots that I was seeing. So, my assumption is there are different dates reserved for dropbox or they accomodate you in. Do...

The interview dates are 1 year out but if they call you for interview after dropbox, you may get it pretty quickly.
