Oh wow. If something is wrong they should just say that and not string you along. From what I’ve seen they don’t mail the certificate as soon as the status changes to closed. My oath was Feb 7th and closed on the 9th. They did not mail it until the 23rd and I received it on the 28th. So next week would be 6 weeks since your oath? For now the best you can do is hope that it was actually mailed and is on route to you. I understand the frustration. Did you email your processing office directly?
Not sure how to contact the Nova Scotia office (processing office), does anyone have the email for them? I replied back to the manitoba office (who did the ceremony) and nothing.

Either way, I have to now wait 6 weeks from the date of certificate dispatch (which was 18th of Feb) before contacting them otherwise they ignore all emails and communications about it (they told me this on the phone)

Had my oath this morning - officially a citizen!

During registration the officer was very nice and told me that for urgent processing all I would need was my travel itinerary, which I forwarded as instructed. Then I received a reply asking for further proof that my travel is urgent (to visit a sick family member). A tad annoying as the officer this morning told me no proof other than itinerary was required. I emailed that back to them and yet to hear a response....

I thought that they would count Friday and Monday as 2 business days and give an appointment. I am worried about if I will miss the travel and I don't want to take chances... but I no option I have to take their words and call back tomorrow.
Urgent passport is available to pick up next day usually so you should be fine. Also if you don't know, it looks like they do contact guarantor and references in case of urgent processing of passport.

Yeah for sure, that's why they ask for, right?

In most cases they don't call anyone. I applied on Monday and picked up on Wednesday (express service) and no one was called but I think guarantors and references were called for people who applied for urgent passport next day pickup).

In person service is available if you need the passport within 25 business days and you will need to show proof that you “ need” a passport. For example a flight itinerary. You need to book this appointment online though.
Thanks but I do not see that anymore. Where do you see the rule for in person appointment is only for urgent processing?

I believe they have changed the rules. Now anyone can get in-person appointment (not just those who have proof of travel), or even just walk-in if you are OK with waiting in-line for 2-3 hours.

Oath: 3rd March
Case Closed: 4th March

The office initially said all I needed for urgent processing was my reasoning and proof of travel during oath registration (officer marked my processing as urgent), but then when I sent my email with travel itinerary they said they required more proof about a family members illness. I replied stating that this was contradictory to what I was told at the time of oath ceremony and that I was unsure of how long it would take for me to get medical proof.
Yet to hear anything back ... is case closed a reliable indicator of processing the certificate etc?

So Finally I have recieved my certificate today, phew

Unfortunately the certificate has a cut on the side, the envelop was damaged, I can't believe they have put the certificate in a cheap non protective envelope, all the details in the certificate have not been impacted but there is a visible cut on the side, I hope they still accept it for the passport application

Congrats. Finally the wait is over.
Thank you very much, finally I can breath, it has been a long 2 months waitting for the certificate.

Although I am annoyed the certificate is damaged (piece torn off), just praying now the passport office don't reject it (but you can see all the details fine including certificate number and bar codes).

I just made an in person appointment to submit the application as we are planning to travel in the next 90 days, I'm hoping they will not have an issue with the certificate being torn.

Thanks to everyone here for their wonderful support throughout this journey and I will continue to contribute here every-time I can to help others with their journey!!

Hi there, we also took virtual oath on 14th February through Mississauga office. Similar story as yours. I emailed them on 2nd March asking for citizenship certificates confirmation. I got a reply immediately confirming they were all sent on February 28th. However, not sure how long Canada post will take to deliver them, as we have to travel urgently! Secondly, if the oath was taken on 14th Feb and files were closed on 16th Feb., why did they not mail the certificates on the same day? Why on 28th? All seems very strange :(

Did ceremony on 14th Feb and still awaiting cert, ceremony office is Mississauga, Ontario. I emailed on 28th Feb to ask when they'd sent mine and my wife's cert, I received a reply to say my wife's had been sent out on 1st March.....errrrr what about mine?! No mention of mine, so unsure if they didn't understand my clearly worded email or that they haven't sent mine out which again just causes more hassle and stress.

Add to that now the fact that Canada Post bend or whack the certificates in how they seem fit.....yep just another bloody issue to deal with.....not happy....

So right now I'm wondering a) When my wife's will arrive b) When they will be sending mine out (if they haven't already) c) How Canada Post will post it and finally d) When they will respond to my email of asking them again.....has mine been posted and if not when!

Hi Sanb

Yes it defies logic to print and put them into an A4 envelope, whack a stamp on them and post them on the same day....rocket science at its finest!

So ours were dispatched on 1st March and I'm pleased to say that my brother is in possession of them now, not bent or rolled up or folded up....so nearly at the end of the journey

Next step is applying for out passports from the UK once we are in possession of the certificates.
