I just don't get it. If the medical is still valid, why can't they just ask the applicant if they can land before the medical expires.
People from India especially with 2020 AOR with expired medical are not getting extension so re-medicals are going to be requested.

I see. So, these are medicals expired for almost a year or more. So, why the advice to wait for re-medical request for early 2020 AORs?

Well according to them when we appear for upfront medical a random IME number is generated so, it takes time for IRCC to link the medical to your application, while when they send re-medical request, they send you IME document which you need to take with you to the clinic and clinic sends the report with the IME number from the document and it is linked to your application easily.
In first scenario, if you get remedical request meanwhile your upfront medical has not been linked yet then it's quite a stressful task to get it linked by raising multiple web forms, also clinics are denying to help you out in such cases.

Apparently Ottawa is working in chronological order of months, and now April 2020 are receiving remed request and now if you go for upfront, it is possible that you will get remed request before your upfront is linked to your application. So, it's better to wait to avoid extra stress.

My friend is currently experiencing this. AOR Nov 2020. She did upfront medicals last year August (previous expired September 2021) and is struggling to get IRCC to link it to her application. Over 10 webforms sent, still no joy :( .

I haven't come across a more rigid and poorly engineered organization than the IRCC. This is absolutely pathetic.

Did she try talking to the agent? Also, I have seen cases where people are also sending email to their VO to link the medicals.
At the end it’s all about your luck. I have seen people whose upfront remeds have updated within a week as well as those that have been waiting for months to get it linked.

many people are getting it done, clinics are denying to help you in linking your upfront with remed request in case you get one while the upfront is not linked.

I went for the upfront remedical yesterday to the same hospital i did back in 2020 and Doctor said he will link my new medicals to same old IME number so that it would be easy for IRCC to access my new medicals... Don't know if this is common practice or not.
Has anyone did the same?
