Hello,

I am planning to apply US tourist visa. I have a PR card and travel document that is valid for 5 years. Do they issue visa to RTD easily? Is it good time to apply? Also, in the DS160 form, it asks me to put US. Point of Contact. I don't know anyone in the usa, what should I put to that section?

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't think so it's a good time to apply for US visa because they closed the visa appointments. In the form point of contact you can put your hotel information where you will stay in US.

You can apply but be prepared for a long wait. It's my understanding that appointments aren't available until late 2022 / early 2023.

I heard some people's visa appointments were changed to a sooner date like March 2022 even their appointments were in 2023. Do you think current situation effects possibility of obtaining a visa?

There are some. However based on what I've seen it's only here and there. I see no harm in applying now and hoping you get an earlier appointment.

I don't think the current situation impacts the ability of getting approval. Whether you are approved or not will depend on your profile.

Thanks for the advices. I think it would be better if I act earlier as they are giving late appointments.

Hi gyz it's urgent I would highly appreciate your help in this case
I got an appointment in July for the application I applied two years back in 2020 may , but due to Covid my appointment got cancelled so now after two years I got an appointment .
So the DS160 form I filled back two years before is still.valid ? Or should I make another one ?

Hi All, I have made a mistake while registering for the payment of visitor visa. Situation is that my wife visitor visa expired in 2020. We reapplied and it was rejected in 2021.

Now while going through the payment process, There is a section where it asks "are you in possession of the US visa?" I selected Yes for it.

I selected yes as my understanding was if we have the visa with us irrespective of it being still active or not. But i guess it means if we are in possession of valid visa which is yet to expire. Now i have been asked to send the documents because of my selection instead of an interview.

Can you please guide if this will impact the visa application in any way. Can i write a letter explaining the mistake i have made?

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

I made the same mistake as yours and thought they asked if i had Visa.

I sent my documents and in 2 days they sent passport back and told me to appear in an interview. I am not sure what will happen now, @Simba112 what should I do now? Will this misunderstanding lead me to negative decision?

If there is no enough window to send explanation, prepare to respond during your interview, acknowledge the mistake. I cant speculate on final decision
