IRCC has expanded the use of virtual citizenship ceremonies, and is working to increase the number of candidates participating in ceremonies. Since April 1, 2020, over 170,000 applicants have become citizens through video oath ceremonies.

Yeah... i watched the complete interview. It really bugs me how they try to spin that 170,000 number as if it was somehow a good sign or impressive. So, in the 22 month period from april 2020 to jan 2022 they sworn in significantly FEWER citizens than in 2019 (over 250,000). =/
The inventory is nearly half a million people, and they only finalized 170,000 in nearly 2 years....

Can someone share some advise in my case please: I had my interview on 1st Dec, it all went very well and the officer was so positive that I will get my Oath invite in 2 weeks time, but yet still I am waiting :-( .
All the steps in portal for me became completed the next day, except the oath ceremony!. Also I checked the old ecase, it is still reflects as "in progress" and not yet changed to DM. By when the DM is expected and will they be asking for another finger print as the last one I give to them was in Mar 2020 and it will complete the 1 year by next month?

I think that is a great idea. However, you have to have someone who has a way with words and the technical background to write up the petition "prayer".

I am in the process of securing an interview with Radio Canada. Depending on how it goes, I would be happy to share the material discussed as a template for a petition

Hurray!!! Finally got the oath invitation for Feb 15th. But I have to travel urgently in Feb 20, which I can't do if I take the oath and discard my current PR. So I have to reschedule the oath.

Does anyone know how the reschedule works and when we can expect the next invitation?

Instructions should be their in the Oath email which you received, but if I were you I wont reschedule the ceremony.

Finally got the good news for our Citizenship oath.
BIG SIGH OF RELIEF.

Wait since the application was sent 2 years 4 months
Wait since Decision Made: almost 9 months

My oath is successfully completed on 21 Dec.
Citizenship Certificate issued and dispatched on : 6th Jan. 2021
Citizenship certifcate receives : 11 Jan.

When I went to passport office for urgent passport(for travel pueporse), they checked and said my citizenship certificate is not updated/validated in the system. So I cannot apply for the passport.

I also spoke with CIC today 12th Jan., they said they will look into it.

What does it mean?
Is it normal? Do I need to do anything?
When I will be good to apply for the passport?

I am in super urgent to travel to the US for school.

I have exact same issue, I received my citizenship certificate and applied for Passport, but the officer said that he cannot verify it, I called IRCC and they said they will follow up, but no news yet.So I wonder what did you do to get it certified.

Is your application showing closed in the tracker?

No, it shows all the steps are completed

That is probably the reason. Once all steps are completed, you should see that application was closed with congratulations message. The certificate details may not be entered into the system.
Instead of relying on call center, contact them using email (the one you sent oath form to).
If your travel is urgent and you are travelling soon, explaining situation to your MPs office might help.

Hi all,

Just give a timeline for your reference, I finally got DM, but haven't receive any oath letter yet.

Application mailed on August 2019.

1. Oct 29,2019 Application filed.
2. Nov 22,2019 Background verification activity status updated to completed.
3. Jun 8,2021 Test invited letter emailed,
4. Jul 2,2021 Test activity status updated to completed.
5. Nov 12,2021 Prohibitions, Physical Presence, Language skills status updated to completed.

My application status on new tracker still IP, but on old tracker is DM.

Don't know how long still need to be wait until complete this journey but at least can see the case still moving.

I hope all of you who still waiting for the DM and Oath can have a good luck to get it done asap. Same to me.

Finally got updated on my oath ceremony scheduled.
Last updated Feb 10th, 2022 Oath ceremony scheduled at Feb 21, 2022
Received the invitation letter yesterday by email.
