Should Tax 2021 be yes or no?

Hey guys, I’m about to submit my application for citizenship, but I realized that I have not filed tax for 2021 yet (my T4 has not arrived). So should I choose yes or no for this? Will there be back effect if I choose no? I normally file my tax in March or April, I’m confident the tax will be filed before my application is completed

Basically, the fact is I have not filed my tax for 2021 yet. But if I choose “no”, it feels like I’m sending a false signal to immigration officers saying “I don’t plan to file my tax this year”, plus I will file my tax before my application is done. I’m struggling about which one should I choose

If you have filed taxes previously, there doesn’t seem to be much reason why you would decide against filing taxes in 2021.

If taxes haven been filed yet, say no, or wait to apply after you have filed your taxes. Point being, be accurate in submission.

It is OK to check [Yes] required to file and [No] did not file for 2021, based on the knowledge you are required to file for 2021.

Of course that means you will need to have shown compliance with the tax filing obligation for at least three previous years.

Remember, any year for which the applicant checks [No] not required to file and [No] did not file counts as a year of compliance.

Technically, the requirement is only compliance with the tax filing obligation for three of the preceding five tax years.

Obviously it looks better, a lot better, to be in compliance ALL years -- except the previous year if it is still before the deadline for filing; again, [Yes] required, [No] did not file is fine for 2021 for now (as long as the filing requirement was met in the previous years). This does not necessarily mean the applicant filed a tax return every year, since No-No years (especially if those are years prior to residing in Canada) count as a year in compliance.
